Hi, I have been asked by OFSTED to produce a policy covering what action we would take on a possible allegation of child abuse on a member of staff? Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Today I asked some children to tell me who was the "teacher" they liked best ( showing a photo of the whole staff team). One boy said "My mum". When I told mum at home time, her smile was precious ( her child has autism and the fact that he gave an answer made her feel good, having recently been told by a special school thay won't take him in September because his needs are too great for them to manage) Peggy

I just wanted to let everyone know about a good email newletter which is availible free of charge off our website. It comes out once a month so shouldn't be too much of a burden on your inbox. It is called the Collage, and has about 3 good educational articles, and one idea or activity for children. You can Subscribe Here If you have comments on the Collage, you can either email me, or post them here.

I went to our local Alchemist scrapstore this afternoon and to put it bluntly - IT'S A LOAD OF RUBBISH!! Well I know thats what it is really but it's getting ridiculous. The same old things - cardboard, buttons, little bits of material, a few different kinds of empty plastic bottle, ice cream tubs and lids. It's not cheap either. I pay a yearly fee. Not very inspiring! Are there any out there that I could visit outside my area (if allowed by the authorities) I don't mind travelling a bit. Sue J

Did any of you watch Dr Who last evening? That sound brought back memories of hiding behind the sofa. The Daleks used to frighten the life out of me-especially their voices!! Linda

A child arrived at nursery yesterday morning with a swollen, puffy face. After questionning staff i learnt that dad had applied a moisturiser in which she had reacted to. Staff could not tell me when the cream was applied, what cream it was, how quickly she reacted and an incident form was not completed (they all know the procedure ~ but anyway that is another story!) I telephoned mum to find out more details but she didn't answer all three emergency contact numbers given On my second observation of the child, myself and the deputy decided that she was not her usual self, she appeared lethargic, cuddling a teddy ~ completley out of character. I decided i would no…

Hi - Just wanted to congratulate Susan on being the first to hit 2000 posts. Most members will be very familiar with Susan, and there will be a fair number who she has helped and encouraged over the last two years who have a great deal to thank her for! Not only has she hit 2000, but if we had the time to read over them all, we'd see that she embodies the 'Lessons from Geese' spirit with her words of support, encouragement and wisdom. We were never more lucky than the day you found your way to the FSF Susan - here's to the next thousand!
