I bit on a peice of thread today and never guess what, a quarter ( the corner) of my front tooth fell off It looks awful and is really sharp. Off to the dentist on Monday( 1st day back at preschool, lucky i've got a good team who don't always need me). Still, thank god it didn't happen last Saturday for the wedding. See there is something positive in everything. I'll have to have chinese instead of steak tonight, and some medicinal Rum ( to stop the pain of course). Peggy

Nursery World

Is this "our" Nicola Gray, writing the letter of the week? I've often thought of writing to Nursery World, but never got around to it. The letter gives lots of food for thought about whether the ten year strategy can really work. I have little faith in it myself and I am completly bogged down with all the strategies and initiatives which, in my opinion, actually have negative effects on achieving a cohearant, joined-up service for our children and their families. Puzzled By Adult Behaviour

We held a training event recently, our key speaker was Ann Whittle who was talking about 'brain gym' and how touch and movement can help learning unfortunatley I missed most of her speach and her workshop the thing that is puzzling me is that two grown women left Ann's workshop in what I can only decribe as distress, they were genuinely very upset, from what I could gather it was references to yoga, kinesology (?) and 'taking yourself out of your body' and hand movements that to me were like an indian dance movement most of the other delegates were facinated by this workshop and cross that it was ruined for them by one of the women being very rude to Ann b…

Hi, My son, Tony is getting married tomorrow, well he's my step son since he was 11 yrs he's now 20 yrs. I went out with Hubby, Tony's dad today to get a dress, Flowers and pink ribbon, very feminine. The wedding and reception is at a local hotel (Where I actually had my wedding reception when I married Tony's dad, Dave) Tony left home 18mths ago to join the Army Air corp, so it's not as if he's just leaving home now but I feel really strange, like it's not really happening, I don't think I will believe it is until it does tomorrow, if you see what I mean His wife to be is a lovely girl, a few years older and a mother of two, I shall be doing her hair an…

Holidays

Hi everybody Sally W here I have been to book my holidays for this year at my workplace (private day nursery) When I looked at the calendar The earliest I can have is you will never believe is November! All the weeks in the summer are completely booked and we are only allowed one member of staff off per week. As we get 20 days holiday per year and we have 16 staff in the nursery I cannot see how how we can all have our holidays. When I have worked in other nurseries we have employed supply staff for three months to cover summer holidays At the moment our officer in charge is on maternity leave and her deputy is in charge and she follows the company rules I feel …
