Well actually she didn't knock or ring - she approached me in the car park! Anyway - I have been 'done' - woohoo! Can't tell you what grade I have got (confidentiality and all that) - suffice it to say I am a happy bunny! :1b A Friday 13th too - goodness me - that gave me a cold shiver when I realised what the date was Very nice but very thorough inspector........ All I can suggest, as others have before me - be yourself, be confident - you know what you're doing! A little tip for my fellow 'Kenters' - I use the LA pro forma for my Two Year Checks and they don't have a huge heading that identifies them as a 'Two Year Check' - I am ever so slightly miffed about th…

I do the paperwork for hubbys business. I write and send invoices and pay cheques in. One woman keeps saying she's paid for jobs I know she hasnt. I send her the bills, she says 'thats fine, I'll send a cheque' then weeks later says she's already paid for this one or that one and I'm getting so angry I feel like pounding on the damn conniving, wretch. She's 'doing my head in'. I dont often get angry but honest to goodness if she was to cross my path today I'd beat her with her own arms!!    I cant keep it up, I just laughed at the whole ridiculous thing!

They came today! She's coming back on Monday too (Friday is half day) to talk about Management and leadership. Management means me and committee, of which we have 3? 4? members, so now I've just re-recruited 2 people who have relevant CRB/DBS and EY2s but who left a while back. Cheeky but necessary! Leadership will be the new manager who has already been told by Mrs O that she shouldnt be working with the children but observing and monitoring staff!! TA friend is making playdough for us to use in an activity which the 2 Yr R teachers have told us to do using their Lesson plan and learning objectives. We cant fail. But if we do, we'll be joinin…

My niece and partner ( primary teacher ) also run their own theatre camp for children , she has asked me to be a chaperone for upcoming dance show. The venue is in the next county but I have to apply to county I live in , no problem there then , you would think ! The county she lives and works in , does not charge and has all applications online unlike my county which having received email said I needed to a DBS , so I thought I will ring them , after all I have an enhanced DBS with no break , designated safeguarding officer and enough safeguarding training to boot , Oh no says the lady when I rang her , you have to apply for a DBS again as your not on the update serv…

Arrive at work this morning , colleague informs me that the tarp she put away on Monday has some suspicious holes ! Large mouse or rats ? So both of us donned our gloves , found some mouse droppings , pulled everything out , disinfected shelves , binned lots of stuff , relabelled and planned to steam clean larger items when we came across rat droppings and nest ! Called the rat man and he confirmed our fear , poison down and now have to wait , I hate rats ! So one garage sorted but still lots of cleaning left but he advised to wait until rats are gone , apparently a bad year for them !

Today must have been one of the worse in my career. We are short staffed on a Thursday anyway and this year some of our combinations of children don't work very well together. I had a child climb up onto the role play kitchen unit. Thought that by ignoring his behaviour it would make him realise that he wouldn't get the attention he wanted. No chance!... The next thing I knew, we had 4 children on the units, walking along and scattering everything off that got in their way. Oh the fun that was had, trying to stop them from serious injury and at the same time trying to get them to pick up a few of the things on the floor. Oh well, nearly Friday!

Apologies to those who don't get a break but only 2 days to go and I have rarely been so ready for it. I'm often tired by this point but the last 5 weeks have been weirdly challenging. There have been issues with colleagues, lots of work, a lot of focus on my EY environment (not a bad thing in itself just difficult), this last week my children have been SO loud and fractious and frequently just mean to each other. This morning I reached the point where I sent a note saying 'please can someone give me a hand for a couple of minutes - I'm either going to cry or get cross'. My lovely head came in and was just what I needed but of course now I feel a bit stupid/rubbish fo…
