The World's Gone Mad!

As we have several Korean/Japanese/Chinese children I decided to buy a doll with a Chinese-looking face to replace the rather old and worn one we have already in our preschool. I decided to ask one of our staff who is Korean to buy us a doll when she went to South Korea for Christmas (rather than pay more from the education catalogues) Would you believe SHE COULDN'T GET ONE! She tried every toy shop, asked friends but got the same message everywhere. They only sell Western dolls in Korea! I think it is so important for children to play with toys that reflect the community they live in. How sad that the Korean children have to come here to play with dolls that re…

Hi, Did anyone else read about our Linda in Nursery World this week? Not only does she run her own nursery, but she appears to be a Sociology Professor at UCL, AND a geography professor at Oxford. I don't know how she finds the time......

Alexander arrived during Thanksgiving week and is doing very well! Congratulations to Nicola and her family - including, of course, Alexander!

Fostering

I've been seriously thinking about Fostering, to the point of getting the application form. Our children have all grown up and moved on and left us with a very empty five bed home. I'd like to have an idea of the pros and cons of fostering, different age ranges, day to day practicalities, etc and any experiences that anyone would like to share with me. Thanks Peggy

Not sure if this is allowed but doing it anyway Most of you know I have four sons, think I have mentioned that my third son and heir was statmented at the age of 7yrs and through sheer grit and determination he struggled his way through school. I spent years boosting his confidence when he was continually put down and I just want to say - this is him, came home like this last night and no he was not going to a fancy dress party!
