I'm curious....maybe steve can help here. Above the little blue bars under your avatar is a little descriptor of your membership. (That's the best I can do to describe it!) Some have things like advanced member or forum inhabitant etc etc but mine only has my name! How did that get there and was there something I missed when registering???

Like many people (especially in our job!) I suffer with lower back problems. I have done for 12 years and up to last year had a couple of "episodes" every year where my back completely seizes up preventing me from sitting, bending, walking, lying and just about everything else. These usually lasted a few days and after rest and painkillers I generally get over them. However last year I had more frequent incidents, lasting longer which led me to see an osteopath and speak to my G.P. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I was referred to the orthopaedic clinic at the hospital and saw the consultant earlier this week. He has referred me for physio and possibly cortisone injec…

Redundancies
by Guest- 10 replies

We have been told today that because the budget is so poor for next year, that it looks like we are going to have to loose 2/3 teachers from school. The plans are to have a yr 1, a yr 1/2,a dn a yr 2, and then lose some teachers from elsewhere. The head is hoping that the teachers will be lost naturally, e.g through teachers applying and getting other jobs, but if not, there will have to be some redundancies. Does anybody know where I stand as a teacher in terms of redundancy???? Just wonder if anybody out there can help. Thanks

One of our parents is loudly proclaiming in the playgroup that 'Oh, no, I'll not be keeping my child at the playgroup, it's not enough for them is it? And anyway I've told them I want the keyworker changed, but they havent done anything about it, my child needs somebody she can relate to, blah blah blah' I want to put this woman in a head lock I'm the keyworker. I suggested to her in November that if it was ok with her I might be moving her child to a different keyworker as I'd noticed she had a better relationship with another member of staff . This being the case her child may benefit from somebody else playing and talking with her. This hasnt happened yet because …

Nursery Fees
by Guest- 5 replies

I am setting up a new Neighbourhood Nursery and am getting very confused with the conflicting advice about how to charge parents. I have been told that we still charge full fees if a child is off sick or on holiday. What if one of the Mums is a teacher and has the school holidays off or a parent works term time only? Surely this would make the care much too expensive if they had to pay for school holidays as well? Do I make monthly or yearly bookings for parents? Any help would be appreciated Teri

I had a brilliant day today. No bad behaviour, no upsets at being left, just friendly, chatty children engadged in co-operative play. The whole day was brill, and I can only wish everyone else the same level of satisfied children, parents and staff. Here's to a happy last 7 months (or am I being to optimistic!????) Oh well here's to the rest of the week then
