Just wondering how everyone's half term has been? It made me think hearing Sunnydays news about her Mum, just how quickly life can change for the better or worse. Mine started on a very low point with my husbands fishing boat sinking on its mooring one night. Thank god no one was hurt or worse, but it is still a nightmare. A high was reaching my 5% weight loss target in just five weeks, with two more pounds to lose to get my stone. Have also really enjoyed the week away from work, it has given me time to take stock and try and remember why I love my job. Have turned a corner and feel I am returning in a more positive frame of mind.(this may all change rapidly of cours…

......thought I would share...... Have just had one of my lovely mums ring "I'm so sorry to bother you at home, but I am not going to get any peace until I have asked you about a book you have been reading........something about a foo-foo and goonies"! For anyone who hasn't come across this book it's 'Little Rabbit Foo-Foo' Never thought before of how 'bad' that sounds if you don't know the story.......a foo-foo and goonies indeed!

It can be metal, or wood, but it must be good

That make you remember why you do this job. I have a key child who has currently undiagnosed additional needs but an IP in place. One of his next steps has been to sing for well over a year, and everytime I have tried, he just sits and smiles. On Thursday, he sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star at the computer with me from start to finish. I was so proud I actually cried. It's those moments that makes the battles with bullish!t policy change and the insanity we have to deal with all worth it.

I wrote a children's story for a new writers' competition, but didn't win. The prize was to have it published, but they were overwhelmed with entries. So, the thing is, I have this book sitting here, and I'd like to have it published, or at least considered. Does anyone have any experience of this, or any ideas? My friend has her Maths books published on Kindle, but I'm not sure about doing that.

So, we have a little boy who is very shy, very quiet..................dad brings him and dad is worried about everything, germs, other children, other adults ( it's taken a lot of work to get him to chat to us)........so, all knock-on effects for the child. So, we have the radio on..............and Uptown Funk comes on. I have rarely seen a reaction like it :) :)....................ALL the children, including our very shy lilttle boy, jumped up and danced to it....so good you'd have thought it was choreographed especially for us! I mean, they love Bon Jovi...................but this is something else

OH HELP!!! I have a child who regularly ( and i MEAN regularly..........like, every 10 minutes!) drops a small surprise, in the form of a silent but deadly passing of wind. It's like having Pepe Le Pew and his thousand siblings in the building........what to do, other than buying an army surplus WW2 gas mask for everyone???????????????

we have been talking/ learning about chinese new year this week as we have several chinese children in the setting. anyway, what a fantastic surprise one of the boys dads brought in a real dragon head and costume for the children to look at, dance in and talk about - they absolutely loved it ( we still have it ready for tomorrow). apparently dad takes part in the dragon dance each year in the town centre and has for the last 10-15 years - the dragon he brought in is one that they practice with - moving eyes, eye lashes, mouth etc - the whole real thing - it is amazing. A fantastic day was had by all - what a great dad !!!!!
