I know that's a random question but its been playng on my mind. I'm thinking about the future and my prospects. This is my 5th year of teaching Reception and I'm worried that although people say there are 'loads jobs out there' that I might be unemployable!! I'm thinking of a change but With all the talk of low budgets, surely if a head was looking for a classroom teacher they would go for someone with a lower salary (Ie an NQT). Is it true that experienced teachers usually only get the managerial jobs? I'm FS co-ordinator at the moment but might not always want to be. Am I the only one but I find just being a classroom teacher(albeit in a FS unit) hard enough…

There has been a lot of 'in house politics' this year to do with Surestart....I wont go intot he details, but basically a Surestart worker is working alongside the school nursery team now. Luckily I get on really well with the head, and she has supported me, and let me blow off steam, but I sometimes have problems with some of the staff. I have a Nursery nurse who I have worked with for a while, but who i feel constantly undermines me and my decisions. the other adult working in Nursery is excellent, but is good friends with the NN. Not only that,…

The article I refer to is that of an 18mth old boy who has been "banned for life" from the day nursery he attended. He started there when he was four months old and until recently there were no problems. He attended four full days a week but has now been banned for biting another child!!!!…

Have just spent an enjoyable weekend at West Dean College near Chichester, where I stayed in an old county house, making willow decorations for Christmas, (no cooking or planning) but lots of yummy food and good company. If you like arts and crafts you will love West Dean. www.westdean.org.uk
