Any bright ideas from you mums of older 'children'. My eldest son left home to go to University and though I missed him dreadfully I was all big and brave and drove him 200 miles to start his uni life (and then cried most of the way home!!!) He graduated and had to move out of uni accommodation and came home until he found a job. He managed that within a month but the job was in London so he was happy to live at home and commute. He has been doing so ever since but now he is really fleeing the nest and is moving to London next week It is his 26th birthday today ( yes I know its high time he was long gone!!) and during the birthday dinner he commented that it was his …

My son attended a linguistics lecture on Monday and was given this to solve. It completely baffled me but thought you may like to try! He was given the word GHOTI ( no typing errors!!!) and told that by playing around with the sounds of letters, either individually or together he should be able to 'read' it as a well known word!! I asked him for some clues! and was told the answer has four letters and to find it you look at GHOTI and think what sounds these letters give when used in other words, then take those sounds and put them together to make the required word!! I confess to not succeeding so if it drives you mad and you want the answer I will post it b…

Favourite 3 Films 1 2

Ok - the title possibly gives my age away (does anyone call them films any more), but I thought people might like to do an equivalent of the Big Read and vote for their 3 favourite movies of all time. Just two rules (what do you mean "How do you get to make the rules"? I started the topic that's how...): No Trilogies (eg Terminator 1,2,3 not allowed) to keep each film in a different genre (eg, avoid The Mummy, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Revenge of the Living Cyclops Entrails) I'll kick it off with: 1 - The Fellowship Of The Ring 2 - As Good As It Gets 3 - Harvey
