Hi - As an irredeemable fan of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I just wanted to remind anyone else who is as sad as me that a brand new series consisting of the last three books starts tonight on Radio 4 at 6.30pm. Don't expect any posts from me during the half hour that follows!

OK. I'm having a BAD day, even by MY standards. And Steve, you can laugh yourself sick if you want. Having tried to destroy life as we know it - well inter-personal communications on the Forum, at least - I set about the washing! A little background info, here. I have a passion for underwear - sorry Steve!- and have recently treated myself to some new stuff. My favourite is a sassy little set in a glorious, vibrant shade of Cerise (some of you may have some idea of what is coming...?) Well, the machine duly did it's thing and I set about pegging out. My glorious little set looks lovely on the line, but -err- my son's WHITE Calvin Klein boxers and husband's BRAND n…

I was looking for some insirational words about teaching or a funny poem to take in for the first week back-does any body know any or have a link to a website with this kind of thing? I thought it would be good to put up on the staffroom wall or in the toilet!! I have a vauge memory of a joke about Jesus sitting around with his disciples but the words had been changed to include all the millions of things teachers have to do. I also had a mug once (which is now smashed )which listed all the jobs-EG SOCIAL WORKER, NURSE, ADMINISRATOR, POET, ACTOR.....ETC ETC and finished with BUT YOU CAN JUST CALL ME A TEACHER!! It can be quite easy to fall into the trap of being n…

 Just wanted to say a big thankyou to all the members who have propped me up for the past few weeks- I don't know what I would have done without you! A major thankyou to Susan whose advice and expertise is exemplary. I cannot thankyou enough! Did Susan panic as I emailed in the middle of an Ofsted to help to change my planning......? No! Did Susan stay as calm as a cucumber and support me in ways that a mentor is supposed to? Yes! Susan- you are a saviour, and if I could send you a cuddle and some flowers I would! You all stopped me from falling to bits! Thankyou,............and oh by the way.....I did Ok....well in an Ofsted type of way........I'm here to t…

Hi, this is a sensible request, for once, from me! I am responsible for staff training and development in our Day Nursery. As we have had a huge influx of new trainees recently (always a difficult time for us old hands!! ) I have been asked to do a training session on Health and Safety for our next Staff Meeting, 29/9/04. I am not having any problems with the subject matter, but it is looking a bit dry and potentially boring, so need some fairly light hearted exercises to break it up, whilst still remaining relevant. I had, years ago, some pictures, cartoon-y ones, of a kitchen scene and a park-type scene, in which there were lots of potential hazards to be picked u…

I've been trying to find pictures from this years Paralympics to display at playgroup, not to point out 'that man has one arm' or ' that lady cant see', just positive images of people competeing and being awarded medals. I've looked in the newspapers, Express, Times, Independent, Sun, Mirror, Daily Mail....Nothing! No-one is reporting them. Eighteen pages on sport in the Express on Sunday, with 1 small paragraph about the cyclists. My 14 year old son found it shocking and unbelievable, and I agree. I'm now going to email the newspapers and tell them what I think. (moan over)

Hi there Nothing to do with Pre-school - well I suppose it is - kind of. I used to have some pictures of objects taken at VERY close angles - do you know what I mean? Things like a hair brush, telephone cable or slice of bread and you had to guess what they were. I am organising a quiz and would like a table quiz where I can pass round these pics. I originally got them from a web site about a year ago - don't remember where, what it was called or anything. Anyone help PLEASE? Sue J
