Toddling In The Sun

We did our Barnardo's toddle today. The sun shone, and as we did it early in the morning it wasn't too warm. We had a lovely time and after we had toddled we all went back for snack and some of the parents and carers came back for tea and coffee. When I talked to the children before we went out about why we were doing the toddle, collecting pennies for children who do not have much money. A.C. said " I don't have much money Mrs McDowell" "I don't have any money" said A.W. "Well I will give any money I get to A.W." said A.C.!! Talk about out of the mouths of babes!! One little boy wanted to know while we were toddling where the money was that we were supposed to be colle…

Sharing Great News!

Just wanted to share my great news with everybody (doing the very proud mum bit!!) My son, Craig, has just got a 2:1 degree in history at Cambridge. As you can imagine we are absolutely delighted for him. But what is even better he went to a playgroup and then to state schools all the way from reception to 6th form. Just shows what a great job the state sector does!!! Keep up the good work everybody knowing that play is the foundation for these children we care for! Linda

So, we have nearly made it to 10 000 posts- that's a lot of talking folks. So, just for fun.... I was thinking, (yes I know that's a rare event), would anyone like to suggest who will make the 10000th post and when it willl be made. (might need some help here Steve. )

Not a full moon, or a lunar eclipse, but a pretty rare event. At 5.20am on Tuesday morning, Venus will transit across the sun for the first time since 1882. This event has only ever been recorded 6 times since the invention of the telescope. The transit will last until about 11.30 am, and if clear, the whole transit can be seen from the UK. It goes without saying though, to be safe, dont look directly at the sun, get out those old pin hole projectors, or solar eclipse shades we were all wearing a few years ago. And if you're working, get creative with the kids!
