ok here goes! i have a family who have some social services involvement at present. There was a vague disclosure which was given by older sibling and repeated by younger one (who's with us) ....this was some weeks ago (we have chased up etc etc) so today social worker came to ask the little one about incident He is 3 and has some verbal delay .i asked to be in the room and was told no. I was really uncomfortable about this...the ss worker obviously thought i was a bit wierd. So what would you have done?

One of the children who left my setting for school in September is having a really hard time...........he is a lovely little chap. His parents are rather clueless the child , let's call him Barry for ease of telling the tale, is often still out playing in his garden late at night, or running around in his bedroom until 1 AM...........howver, I had no problems with his behaviour, though he did seem to have hearing issues ( asked mum to take him for hearing tests three times, which she always said she had done and always came back clear). Anyway, there were some home issues, such as the erratic bedtimes and people who live either side told me that they hear both parents scr…

Not really - just a bit p@"£& off really. Decided this year we would have a children's novelty Christmas cake on Friday at the party as we haven't had a birthday in ages, haven't had time to make anything so thought I would buy one ...........nothing except an over priced one in M&S and a chocolate overloaded Christmas tree in ASDA surely supermarkets used to do Santa cakes or penguins etc or am I dreaming? Anyway have decided to build a snow palace from some white Mr Kipling fancies instead and stick in some Frozen characters stuck to cocktail sticks. Every year there seems to be something quite ordinary (to my thinking anyway) that I find darn near dif…

So... I'm extremely stressed at the moment, so much to do, so little time to do it - nothing new there then! Not helped by bugs in the invoicing system we use that have delayed bills going out and I now need to redo... Anyway I was showing round a new family who were concerned that their child loved her old nursery and would she settle at ours. I said that we get lots of new children join us through the year and pointed out a child who has just started but was surrounded by friends and said that the parents had said the same thing but they were thrilled with how she settled. The father turned to her and said 'Do you like Busy Bees?' and she replied ' I don't like it (hea…

How sad it is reading all the comments of all of us who are having a rough time one way or another and even thinking of giving up on this profession. Believe me I have had my share this term! So I thought I might try and start a happy theme. The thing that made me the most happy this week: The little 2 year old in her furry coat that made her almost as wide as she is tall, running from one puddle to the next, arms in the air and making a sound roughly like a very happy Minion! I could have watched that all day.
