.........already, how did that come round so fast? I still have another week of 'holiday' so will spend most of it desperately trying to finish my 'to do' list - actually I think I'm nearly there - probably because I relegated quite a bit to my 'this will never get done' list!  This week I need to tackle cleaning (setting) and just off now to collect all cushions, dressing up outfits etc. etc. to bring home to wash - deep joy! Onwards and upwards! :1b

Ok ladies and gentlemen, It is time for narnia's 'check your bits' campaign reminder. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago and am here to tell the tale, because I found my nipple was inverted and got it checked out. The rest as they say, is history.............but I'm not! So, make it your promise to yourself to check your breasts for any lumps, bumps, nipple changes, discharge or even rashes. ANYTHING that seems out of the ordinary, get it checked. Gentlemen, your dangly bits are best checked in the shower, when you'll be nice and warm (unless you are one of those who like a nice cold Nordic shower!) again though, any lumps, bumps etc, PLEASE get yourself check…

Hi - Question from a non childcare related piece of work im working on but thought there might be some help from here -can anyone define the difference between 'management' and 'bullying' in respect of treatment of staff...is there a specific difference to see, feel, notice etc in order to be sure its one or the other?. Have you ever felt bullied when managed or what you thought was management turned out to be bullying? I'd be grateful for any thoughts / examples.

I can't remember where I saw it but someone on here rescued and was feeding a baby squirrel a day or so ago. I've been trying to find the post to find out how the little chap is doing and have given up. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Hello all for years, like many settings, our school has always held a Christmas and Summer fair to raise vital school funds. However, we have expanded the school and can no longer fit x amount of families into the school hall (moving it outdoors is always weather reliant). Has anyone got any bright ideas of ways that we can continue to raise money? We are trying to think of ideas that would be equal to the fairs - e.g. we would rather not have lots of 'events' as parents may feel that we are always asking for contributions - does that make sense? So far we have thought of Rainbow raffles - each class given a colour and families donate items of said colour "special' r…

Well 30 years to be exact. I started as an NQT today 30 yrs ago. It was a hideous first year and probably shaped my approach to NQTs for ever after. (I learned how not to do it.) From then, I have: Taught Nursery to Yr 5 (managed to dodge Yr6 as class teacher but had to deal with them as DHT!) Managed Music, Design Techology, Science, EYFS, KS1, Assessment, EAL and been queen of the stock cupboard (No pencil stub: No pencil sunshine!) Been an A post and B post holder, main payscale, Upper pay scale, and all the other allowances you could be. Lost pay and fought for y/our rights: non contact time, directed hours and every other right the unions have won since 1984. W…

Sorry to those who are full time nurseries, but this day has been anticipated for a week or more this time round. The children have been quite sensitive and tearful, which we put down to the very hot weather and perhaps lack of sleep. Thank heavens we weren't doing any type of show I dread to think how they would have coped. We had a simple leavers celebration and snack was some party food. And lots of lovely pats on backs for doing a great job. I wonder how our lovely Cait is feeling - have you finished yet?

Please will you all vote for my son, Alan Faulkner-Jones? (And ask all your friends to, as well) http://3dprintshow.com/global-awards/inspirational-individual/ He has designed and made a 3D printer that will print human stem cells. They can take somebody's fat cell, turn it into a stem cell and then tell it it's a kidney, or liver or whatever cell, then print out (in the future, yet) a kidney, or a liver or whatever, so that it can be transplanted into that person and not be rejected. They can also print cells so that they can test drugs on them to see how they will react for a particular person. It's all mind blowing, and he totally deserves to win thi…
