Well, here we go, done a spot of tidying and decided to do a washload. Got everything in the machine and the liquid and softener and went to switch it on. Nothing. Sigh. Checked I had switched the switch the right way, yes. Must be the fuse. Out into the garage to find a fuse, dismantled the plug, luckily not a sealed unit. Changed the fuse, plugged it in, still nothing. Ok, could be a duff fuse, did it again, still nothing. I go and stroke the machine gently, mourning its demise, when I notice that somebody has switched off the button on the front, that I never do - I switch it off at the wall. Somebody being a bit helpful, sigh. So, I switch it on, and off i…

Help me out - I've got a dilemma on my hands! I've been on the committee of our local playgroup for 4 years (my background is early years childcare) and I was planning on staying on after my youngest leaves to start school, as we've just had a pre-Ofsted audit by our LA that needs tons of work doing, which I really enjoy (yes, it's official - I'm nuts!) I have been looking for work in preschools or creche work to fit around the children as there wasn't any vacancies at our playgroup. Until Wednesday. Our deputy has got a full time job at school so has handed her notice in. The manager asked the committee last night if it was ok for her to offer the hours to the newly …

Those of you that read my post recently on hiring a Gruffalo costume for our end of term concert well it was today. It was truly magical. So as not to frighten all 61 children, we showed them it was a costume and our kind staff member put the costume on, I know in all this heat, what a trooper, with much delight from all of the children. Not a tear in sight, they absolutely loved it. Lots of parents very emotional as we said goodbye to 40 of them today. The concert was such fun, we even had all the adults up dancing and clapping to "Happy" by Pharell Williams at the end. A wonderful last day for us. Hope you all get to have some downtime, recharge your batteries …

I think I've changed my settings - or more likely my cat has changed them for me :1b I usually go to forums directly - then click 'view new content' and then I'm happy........ however when I click that now- I go to the forum home page. I can view latest post from the side bar there.... but not all new posts. Anyone know what I may have done/clicked? x

I mentioned it in jest earlier, suggesting we might have a little leaving party for Trove and Guss (or Gross as I sometimes call them). However it has occurred to me that I can't remember when I was in chat last. Anyone fancy joining me? Otherwise I'll be forced to talk to myself. Again.

I have just come home to find a complaint from ofsted on my desk! A parent has suggested that i sent his child outside when there were ants....that we sent her home when she wasn't unwell (she was!) and that we sent her home with sunstroke (which we did not!) AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH for 16 years my complaints log has been empty and this BEEEEPPPPP has blemished my record over some inaccurate and made up story....how can people live with themselves!

So excited, after visiting the Gruffalo trail recently with the children and making Gruffalo cakes this week. My big surprise for the children when we have our Summer Concert next week, is that I have hired a Gruffalo costume for one of us to wear, so a real life size Gruffalo comes to visit us. Just hope they love it as much as me.:)

Usually I am distracted from my own life by work worries and work to dos. But today I have been distracted from work by looking at Ancestry.co.uk! Fascinating details about my grandparents going to New York in the 30s on lots of different liners. May not even get back to the work today!

Just found out that Elizabeth Truss is sitting in a local cafe having watched the Tour de France start from Leeds. Had to be held back from going to 'have a word'. What would you have said to her if you had a chance?
