We have a lovely family from Romania joining us in September. Does anybody have any suggestions of useful sites for me to explore to support them.

Our numbers for September are the lowest we've ever had and we're dropping to one session a day However, one of our child minder colleagues suggested today that 2015's intake should be a bumper year for 3 year old intake due to a baby boom from Fifty Shades of Grey having been first published in 2011! Is this true?!

Just feeling in need of a hug and before anyone says anything I do know that this stuff is so much easier than many, many other people have it and I'm not moaning exactly just wibbling a bit. I am over tired from writing reports, have been up since 3.30am, have a bad head and an old whiplash injury is playing up - the painkillers haven't kicked in. I've just run my first infant choir session which was lovely but I find myself wondering how I manage to run 2 in a year and other teachers don't do any. Have just heard that someone has got an interview for a new job and while I'm pleased for them I will miss them very much. I have just got my probable class list f…

My new reception have been the usual mix of: A- totally fine B - fine but very glad to see mummy/daddy at collection time C - ok but keeping a tight rein on tears D - not keeping being able to hold tears back and 'wanting mummy' most of the time - lots of hugs given! E - being in need of reminding who's boss but not really getting that in case I upset those in groups C or D! Those children I will keeps as Y1 were fine except that in circle time this afternoon one said she was worried about not knowing the teacher! Those children I pass on to some…

We are celebrating our 10th birthday in early September. As well as all the fun we have planned, we would really like to make some kind of collaborative artwork that all the children can be involved with, but we're stuck for ideas. A couple of years ago, we did a felting project where all the children made a felt handprint which we then 'felted' into a felt backdrop and decorated. Something similar would be lovely, but needs to be appropriate for all ages and the numbers of children we have. We are a day nursery with about 90 children on roll aged from 6 months to five years, plus school children in the holidays. It would be good to get it started before the end of t…

Well it hasn't been our best week !! One parent hiddled staff off with a bad**** attitude - Child has severe developmental delay and since September last year we have been sympathetic and supportive and have tried our absolute utmost to gently engage family with other services to help but parents are deeply in denial. Unfortunately we cannot afford to provide 1:1 support at the levels have been doing over the last year - we are providing 14 hours 1:1 and have managed to get 6 hours from LA so things have come to a head and during a meeting I tried to give all the reasons for why an EP referral would be beneficial - parent then decides to tell us how "these young girls" …
