Well, my iPad has updated this morning - took quite a while too! Have to say I'm not liking what I see so far - everything seems to have gone flat! I'm used to things looking very 3D on here nowadays, and it's pale and boring now! Even the side sweep to delete emails from the list has gone and worst of all, the 'delete' bin is now called 'trash'! Very upset this morning. ?

Ok, today, ladies ( and gentlemen!!), is 'check your bits' day. As some of you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer some while ago. Today, is my magical 5 years mark, so I hope to now be shot of the little beastie. BUT,I am still going to be here to remind you of the importance of checking, and getting to know your own body. Got a lump?? get it checked! got a swelling that won't go away?? Nipple discharge, nipple turning in?? Sore/swollen testicles?? Blood in your poo?? ANYTHING that is odd, or worrying, or just simply wasn't there a while ago?? Get it checked. Don't put it off...........don't say, or think you'll give it a few more days, because chances are you will…

...to everyone who's posted a comment in the 'Funny things children say' thread. I've been out at my book group tonight - had a lovely time came back all psyched up to review risk assessments ! Made the mistake of checking my school e-mails only to read one from a colleague which had me ranting and stropping and steam coming out of my ears. I've been and re-read several of the funny things children said and you have cheered me up hugely! I was laughing out loud at points! So, thank you!

Forgive me if this topic has been covered while I was away, but right now i am feeling desparately angry and sad for this little boy in equal measures. You all know I care passionately about keeping children safe.........we all share that goal, I hope. So, make yourselves one promise today, for this one child: I will do everything in my power to keep every child I know of, safe and well to the best of my ability. If I have any questions that the parent/s cannot answer to my satisfaction; if I have one moment of doubt or questioning, I will not fail to contact those in higher authority to get those answers in order to protect that child. It is the very least that any …

I know this isn't EYFs related but I am hoping that the good sense of members can help me with this one. My daughter, with ASD and learning problems who lives independently with a 24/7 care, has a team of carers. One of the team uses e-cigarettes as staff are not allowed to smoke at work. My daughter, Jenny, is getting quite upset as she thinks that smoking is wrong and cannot see the difference between these and the the real thing. I have asked her care organisers about it but they are happy because they are not the real thing. I would be interested to hear your opinions on this.

So.......today we have welcomed several new children to pre-school - all went extremely well apart from our 'twins' ....... Parents were fantastic and worked very well with us to get them settled and waited 'down stairs' for a while and then came back to collect them when they were all happy and contented as per my request - so that's 'all good'...... However, dad of the twins gave my deputy and I a big hug each as he left  - I am a very 'touchy, feely' person myself - my deputy less so........but goodness this all felt very 'weird' to both of us and it is not something that we have ever experienced before......I have often had hugs from mums which feels fi…

First morning back in our new room today...Everyone Loves it, happy, happy children, contented parents and a huge weight lifted from my shoulders. Also just wanted to shout out how much I love my job. What other job could you do that takes you to Antartica to feed the seals fish, fall down a waterfall and have to be rescued by Fireman Sam (after firing a flare) then being rushed off in a bread crate racing car to the park for a picnic!!! That is all before eating a playdough cake, being squirted by a very cheeky three year old with the water sprayer and finding out that the fairies had left us some gold treasure. This may all change of course when all our new little…

Today the children are back in nursery!! I have had a new staff member and a total revamp as this is my first term being in charge of the whole of nursery! (We were half maintained, half private but due to finances we are now totally private!!!) I am excited. Anxious. . . . . . We will be using all of our floor space today, as our furntiute has not arrived!!!!!!!!! No tables. No chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We ordered from a well know supposedly reputable company in early June. I spoke to them on the last day of term and was promised the furniture would be on site on one or other TED (yesterday and the day before) BUT NO!!!! So now I have to explain…
