Hello All, I desperately need some CLL activities based around Diwali. Last year this involved a drama but I'm trying to steer away from this! Please help!

Hi There I know it's a little late for this years Diwali but thought I'd share the rangoli activity I did today with my children as it worked really well, you may also be able to adapt this activity too as I did. (Apologies in advance if it's on here already ) I used table salt & chalk, the children rub the chalk over the salt to change the colour. I made a large rangoli template, we put glue on the template & added the chalk. Once the children had finished the children decided that we should remove the excess slat by shaking the paper outside, the kids absolutely loved mark making in the salt outside. Fab. Hope it's of use Nicky XX…

Hi all! I am being observed on Monday for a lesson on Diwali. I want to do the stroy of Rama and Sita but I don't want everyone sat down listening. I was thinking about getting the whole class involved in a drama piece and wondered if anyone had done this and how they organised the children. If not has anyone got any other really good ideas for getting the story across in an active way? Hope you can help!

Fs Friendly Divali Storybook Titles?
by Guest- 9 replies

Hi, Does anyone know of a big book suitable for use with FS/KS1 about the Divali story. I have "Lighting the lamps" normal book size which is all about how Divali is celebrated but am looking for a suitable big book (or even normal sized book!) that tells the story of Rama and Sita simply. The one I currently use is more suited to upper KS1 or KS2 and has a lot of text on the page. Thanks for taking the time to read this and possibly respond....
