Prem Baby Stories? Or Twins
by Guest- 4 replies

I have a collection of stories suitable for reading when a new sibling arrives but can anyone suggest one for a prem baby who is not every well or the arrival of twins? We have a child whose mother is 90 miles away as that was the only place with 2 neonatal beds available when problems developed with mum's twin pregnancy. Identical twin girls have been born 11 weeks early by c-section.Child has not seen babies who are in special care or mum.Other than giving this bewildered child lots of cuddles any story suggestions to support him?

New Eyfs Publications

Over the weekend, I've come across two publications that look as though they'll be very useful in helping to implement the EYFS. I've ordered both but obviously they haven't arrived yet so I can't vouch for them. However, Vicky Hutchin always writes very readable stuff, with lots of examples and practical advice, and Early Education also have a good reputation. I'll do a review when they arrive! http://www.early-education.org.uk/ccp51/cg...ations:booklets http://www.amazon.co.uk/Supporting-Childs-...6772&sr=1-2 Hope the links work!

Has anyone come across this book and if so, would you recommend it? I've recently read another book by Anita Hughes, all about Treasure Baskets and Heuristic Play, and have just found a reference to this other book of hers at the back of "The Little Book of Treasure Baskets". Anyone heard of/got it???

Course Book For Special Needs Unit
by Guest- 2 replies

Hi I'm just starting my final unit of my dpp. I've chosen special needs as my option and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for one good book to buy. I've been to local library and everything is either on loan or lost. As I am doing my course through outreach I don't get to go to the college library as it's too far away. As I can only afford to spend out on one book I want to try and make sure it's a good one for my course but also future reference. Thanks in advance Sally

How Children Learn

I've just bought a book called 'How Children Learn' by Linda Pound to help with my DPP assignment. I think I may have seen it recommended on another thread here somewhere. It is really useful - simple straightforward summaries of the different theorists and implications for practice. There are lots of references if you want to research or read more. Going to be a great help as I throw myself into my assignment. It's good value too at £11.99. Sally
