Hi I am looking at getting tiny talk in to do staff training on baby sign and incorporating baby sign within our nursery. Has anyone done this training or had any expereince of baby sign. Is it worth doing? Does it work? Would you recommend? Thanks

Big Books!

Hi - It can sometimes be a struggle to find children's favourites in Big Book format on Amazon. So we've listed a few of them on our Book Recommendations page, which you can get to by clicking here. All of them are tried, tested and cherished in our nursery, and are probably familiar to you. As usual, Amazon is just a handy link. If you have your own supplier give them a call - if Amazon can get hold of them, so can they. We'll probably add to this list when we have time. Let me know if you find it useful - we'd be happy to include recommendations from you, but want only to include books that you've tried and your children have enjoyed. Steve

Ive just brought George and the Dragon from Waterstones £7.99 with a cd.It is brilliant,Brian Blessed tells the story but the sound effects are fantastic. Our children loved it have asked for it time and time again and 'acted' it out with the music for 'music and movement'

Hi, I've just bought 'Shhh!' by Sally Grindley and Peter Utton. It's the best money I've spent in ages. Our children have asked for it every day for the last two weeks and at every reading they have sat in quiet anticipation at being caught by the giant. Parents are telling us their children keep talking about the giant at playgroup. It is such a fun book, scarey but safe, with times to be quiet and times to talk. I'm buying the Gruffalo next, hope it has the same effect.

Parent Lending Library
by Guest Wolfie- 3 replies

I've been given some money to spend building up a lending library for the parents at our nursery- I'm looking for some good basic child development books as well as books of ideas for things to do with their children at home, ways in which they can support their learning, etc. etc. I can also take out a couple of subscriptions to magazines. Any good suggestions?

Dear Zoo

Hi there, was just wondering a rather silly question actually I've been on Amazon today as I am making a 'Dear Zoo' story sack for Natalie as a Christmas present (no sewing involved ) and they do 2 versions of the same book. One is a lift the flap hard book and the other is a big book. Now, I am wondering is the big book, as big as other big books, or is it just a bigger version of the smaller book?? I hope that makes some sense! Basically, I can't put a normal sized big book into a sack because it will get ruined, but the small hard book is probably too small. Any ideas?? Sorry if that sounds a bit daft

Book Swapping

I am feeling a bit bogged down lately with all the books (childcare and non childcare) that I have loaded all around my house. Simon goes mad everytime I bring a new one home, so was wondering if anyone would like to get involved with book swapping? I can't bring myself to get rid of them and I've read most of my collection 2 or 3 times now. Not quite sure how to work it though. Was thinking of writing a 'catalogue' of all the books I have and attaching later (feeling poorly today, and need energy to go through them all!) and then if anyone is interested in any of them, you can PM me with your address and I can send them on. What do you think? It's just an id…
