I was just wondering what people are reading at the moment. I tend to have several books on the go, with little time to finish them, but I thought it would be fun to share ideas and a brief comment on the book. Books don't have to be work related, although I am probably a sad person, as my list are all work related books! (I could do with some other recommendations though - some fiction would be nice for a change!) Here are mine: Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child - John Gottman This is an easy read, and although it is written for parents, I think it's equally as valuable for those working with children. In fact, I think it should be a 'must read' for stud…

Our Literacy Co-ordinator has come up with the theme of Childrens literature from the sixties in order to celebrate book week this year. (as it is also our 40th birthday) I cannot think of anything from the sixties that the children would know other than Noddy? Have any of you more mature members got any brainwaves? I am completly stumped! Michaelle

Just finished Orcs by Stan Nicholls. Good book over all, although I did sometimes feel the authors imagination had been a bit lapse I got the feeling I was reading stuff I already knew from other books and of course LOTR. If anyone has read it I really need help with the last chapter, why did it get written? I'm lost, you know when you've read a good book and can re-run it your mind and think about it after it's finished? (or maybe thats just me!) well I cant understand what happened. PS Last Harry Potter had me open mouthed with shock. How dare that happen at the end! Cant wait for the last one now.

I use Amazon loads, but I've just found another site where you can get new and used books, rare books and books that are out of print. I've been able to buy 2 books that I've searched for for months. It's Abebooks here

Just wondered if anyone has an ongoing list of books related to topics yet? We all seem to do the same themes eg Toys/bears, ourselves, transport, animals, nursery rhymes/fairy tales, etc and i always find the perfect book just after we finish a topic! It would also be good to hear of new titles people use as we tend to go for the old favourites too!

Book Recommendations Please!

Hi, Can anybody recommend a good book that I can read to nursery children (aged 4) which is about different feelings? It's for my nvq assessment and my knowledge of frequently used books in the foundation stage is limited to say the least! I have considered Owl Babies or Can't You Sleep Little Bear but these only cover one or two feelings and wondered if there were any better books that cover more feelings and emotions. Many thanks.
