Music

We are currently looking at how we present music in our setting and how we can develop a programme which covers two years and allows the children to progress and develop listening skills, rhythm and an awareness of instruments as well as an appreciation of and enjoyment of music. We currently use the BBC music box programme which is useful for our pre-school children (4yr olds) but need something for the ante-preschool children (3yr olds). None of us are particularly musical. oes anyone have any ideas?

I'm doing a People who help us topic in September which I've done before but don't have many simple non fiction books for. (for reception) Was wondering if anyone knew any? (or any good sites/other ideas) I usually pick a group of people for a week eg. postmen and then link everything in with it- postman pat, role play post office, writing letters etc. and try and get lots of people in to talk! Wouldn't be planning so far in advance but have just found out we're getting inspected in fifth week back so trying to collect as much as possible! Tried Sticky Kids tapes out today that Linda recommended and they loved them!

Does anyone have any good books/ know any good websites with ideas for teaching P.E in reception. I've been doing loads of P.E this year but don't have any books (except the TOPS sheets) and am finding it hard to keep coming up with interesting ideas! (especially for gym/dance sessions) Would appreciate any suggestions!

Clipart Search

I am looking for a suitable clipart program which I can use when preparing and producing work in my pre-school. It's more for me to use when I illustrate song sheets and look for such things as pictures of mini-beasts, transport etc. rather than for the children to use. I have a couple of clipart CD's but they are either very American or too cartoony or just too adult I would be grateful if anybody had any ideas. Thanks. Linda

We are running out of ideas for activities in the sand and water trays, playdough area, etc. and need some inspiration for new and exciting tactile experiences for the children. Any brilliant ideas out there?

Hi anybody know of any foundation stage teaching jobs up to half an hour from Brighton for September. I Had a real shock yesterday, my head told me I would be working in year 3 and in september. As a committed Foundation stage teacher this is totally unacceptable and I am going to resign.

Hi! I 'm a nursery teacher co-ordinating the foundation stage in our First School. My vision is to set up one "unit" (can anyone think of a better word?) so that nursery and reception share accomodation, resources, staff and experiences. Is anyone working in this way? I do hope so, because I need to pick some brains! (This is my first time on any forum, I hope this message has reached the right place!) Thanks.

Outdoor Play For Reception

I am currently putting plans together to build and resource a garden area for a reception class (we share with our nursery unit at present). If any one has any good ideas for its development or places in which finance can be obtained, I would love some inspiration to help with my current plans.

We want to revamp our outdoor provision this year? Do you have successful areas in your settings that you could let us know about?
