Ok so in brief... child at after school club has disclosed a safeguarding issue about a school friend (who we know) Myself and colleague have recorded and told the parent of the 'diclosee' at the end of session (who happens to work in a safeguarding capacity) she spoke to the school...as did we. The head said "oh you know that thing (we were in the middle of the playground!) I know about it...we've recorded it so don't worry! I said I would give her a copy of our paperwork which I attempted to do today but was unable to get hold of her. I don't really trust the school...so do I pass this on and let them deal with it...or do I call the MASH team and speak to them …

As we reach day 5 of over 30 C here found this information from Public health England about caring for children in Early years settings.. may be helpful - I am not coping too well, funny how on holiday it never seems to bother me, but think it is the lack of respite here against air con when away,, https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/428850/Looking_After_Children_Heat_PHE_AC_AB_Publications_MP_JRM_FINAL.PDF

Quickly assess individual children, groups within classes or whole classes, using our tier arrangement, customisable to fit your existing school set up. Assessments can be added via observations or directly into the formative assessment screen. There is more information and some screenshots for yo…

Hi All I noticed this slide today, Ofsted discussing current issues and potential changes in early years. This slide jumped out at me for the last point re children having more success when '...give more adult-led than child-led learning opportunities'. The word led caused me alarm as it is clearly discouraging interest led pedagogy such as in the moment planning (thank you for the book review Rebecca) and planning by learning outcome. It appears that children achieve the good level of development more consistently when adult led. I am not surprised by this but how deep is the learning. How are the 'brains lit up'? Where will this stop with regard to how much inter…

This is from today's BBC news - please let all your families know so that no other child suffers such a horrific event. "The Disney Store has withdrawn a travel mug from sale and destroyed existing stocks after a seven-year-old girl's tongue became stuck in the lid. Megan Donald's tongue became jammed in the Monsters Inc screw-top cup while at school in Kirkintilloch, near Glasgow. It was removed by hospital staff using a hacksaw and drill four hours later. The Disney Store said it had withdrawn the mug and similar products from its stores and websites and destroyed all current stocks. But Megan's mother Natalie, 31, from Kirkintilloch, said she was concerned the same…
