The Works have an online deal of 10 books for £10.00. They do charge postage but if you have one locally you can click and collect from store. Even with postage this is a good deal . http://www.theworks.co.uk/c/multibuys/10-for-10

We are looking at extending our classroom and I wondered about suggesting bifold doors leading into our outside area. If you have them in your setting, I would be grateful if you could let me know whether you think they are a good idea or if you have had any problems with them. Thanks!

This is an extremely interesting article: Toy guns: 'Children have an innate, inquisitive nature to explore good and bad, right and wrong' I know that it is an emotive subject in nurseries ... we have had parents getting very distressed about it in the past and I think that if I had had this article that I could print and give to them it would have been very useful!

I happened on this article after it was retweeted on Twitter by EY Talking it's a fascinating read and I am sure many of us have seen adults 'ruining' children's play and perhaps have been 'that' adult ourselves??? The article, by Peter Gray Ph.D, was published in 2009 in Psychology Today "My soul has been stirred by many of nature's wonders--by orange and yellow leaves sparkling in the autumn sun, by mallards landing softly on still waters at dusk, by clouds drifting by as I lay on my back gazing upward. But, of all of nature's scenes that I have enjoyed and pondered, none have enthralled me more than those of children playing--playing on their own, without adults guid…

Help with maths in nursery

Hello, this is my first post, so I'm hoping it's in the right place. I'm currently updating target tracker and yet again as I go through our tapestry learning journals I see that none of us are observing much maths in nursery, particularly me. Personally I never seem to see it, but I've never really liked maths much. As a key stage 1 teacher I taught it as required but I never spent the ages I spent on literacy, lovingly planning it and making it memorable! My own children are chalk and cheese about maths, one adores it, sees numbers everywhere, counts everything and the other has no interest (the category I fall into). I need help! How can I train myself (no budget i…

Hi I am avoiding a Christmas display this year as I have a JW child. However I still want to celebrate Christmas with the other children who attend, I am trying to think of a tactful display such as a winter wonderland or similar. Do you have any ideas Thanks

Hi there, Just wondering if anyone had any experience of using a good and user friendly planning system? I am in a 2 form international school where we sometimes have teachers from other parts of Primary and Secondary covering when teachers are sick. I have had a dabble with planbook.com as we have a lot different days and events throughout the whole school all year and it is good to plot these in. I wondered if anyone had tried any others?
