We chatted in this podcast with primary school teacher and special educational needs coordinator, Manny Awoyelu about his work as a primary school teacher, SEND coordinator and Director of The Reach Out Project, working with young people living in inner-city London. Manny talked about the importance of mentoring for young people, and of being represented by the adults they see and the resources they use. He reminded me about the journey our youngest children are on, and that those who work with them in early years and primary are supporting them at the beginning of that journey.

Hi I am wondering if anyone can offer some advice. I have a child in my class who is very bright and making good progress academically, however there are many occasions when he is overwhelmed by his emotions. His reactions to tiny incidents are extreme. For example when a child bumped him, accidentally, he wasn't hurt but he screamed like he had broken his arm. ' He cries sometimes when watching numberblocks, he can cry at lunch time, when he is asked to do something. However these reactions are completely random, no pattern, some days fine other days not. Parent have said he is very confident at home. I have seen evidence of this through our remote learning ses…

Can anyone shed any light on the difficulty logging onto (or staying on) Tapestry? Since last week, we've been getting a screen with a picture and messages saying "We're experiencing technical difficulties" and error code 500. We can occasionally log on, but it quickly reverts to the error message. Anyone else or is it just us? Thank you.

I can no longer check the policy up-dates on the EYA web-site. I signed up to the members portal and the message says they are experiencing technical difficulties with digital downloads. How are we supposed to check up-dates on policies ?

When uploading an observation on tapestry, parents are not receiving the observation until almost 12 hours later. Is there anyway of resetting something so that they are receiving them instantly?

Hi I had to come to the very sad decision to close my Pre-school at the end of the Summer term. I have owned it for 39 years - I am well beyond retirement age but have been actively involved in the daily running all the time. I was, and still am so upset with the decision I had to make as it was more of a way of life for me not just a job. The advice I need now is - How long should I keep things like - Risk Assessments done on the building Health and Safety/Hygiene Inspection reports Staff Appraisals Staff job application forms from when they applied Children registration forms Childrens Admissions forms (completed by parents as t…

Apparently the government wants those isolating and accessing remote learning to have access to the full curriculum so that they can bring back work to be stuck in books etc as they would if they were in school. There is no official guidance on this, but my head has given those details as to what they are asking. We have currently been putting our Literacy, Phonics and Maths on to Tapestry for these children to access, but I am wondering what everyone else is doing? Ours does not always require a paper sheet and is more practical such as sorting groups of buttons into 2 piles for more/less and then taking a photo with comments. We have refrained from putting workshe…
