Hello all, After Christmas I am starting a new role as KS1 leader in a different school. In the midst of all the Christmas/end of year stuff I am also trying to figure out what to prepare for my replacement and what I need to find out for my new role. Please can you help? It's been 9 years since I started a new job and I can't remember what I needed to know and so much is second nature now. I don't know what I need to know!! Anxious, harassed, me? Yep - well and truly!!

Just back from church and the beloved crèche leader has quietly told me that she is to give it up at the end of current rota. I'd previously expressed an interest in running it and she has asked me without first asking the vicar!! I think they've had a falling out. This woman has been my rock since my babies were tiny and I don't want to undermine her in any way, but I think crèche might look different. Currently there are usually only three to five toddlers and babies but sometimes as many as 13. Parents often stay with their children but some do go back in to church. There are always two CRB'd 'helpers' with others who can be called upon to help. Many of the …

We have had some outdoor furniture made by the local college. Unfortunately they have made the sandpit too small - they said they would do it on site when I described how big we wanted it. It's a beautifully made thing! It's square with high sides and a floor. It will stand up on its end and would be safe if fixed to the fence. What do you think we should do with it? Ideas we've thought of: 1. Use for a different material e.g. different sizes of gravel and pebbles 2. Use as a cupboard for Hanging role-play costumes and equipment with tarpaulin at the front to keep dry at night. 3. Put shelves in and use for investigation/exploration equipment. Any other ideas? …

Hi We have been thinking of inviting parents to stay and play for a session. I just wondered if anyone has done this and if so how did you organise it and what sort of activities did you do with the parents? Thanks

Hi I have been donated £500 by a family who's child we look after, the child is 4 and has ASD. He loves stacking, numbers, letters, computers but no real main obsession. I can spend the money howeve I want but I want to get something that is a reflection of him and that will last! I have looked at Sen resources but nothing is jumping out at me except a light projecting display at over £3000 lol It must stand up to being in a pack a way environment and not be too big/heavy. Any ideas? What's any of your best buys around this price Mark? I don't mind putting some more toward it. I've just bought a touch screen computer through EYPP otherwise I would have done t…

We want to do something different with our 2,3 and 4 year olds at the end of this term. We usually do a little Christmas play with children dressing up (which they enjoyed doing by the way) They also sung songs they had learnt over the last year after the play. This year though, I have realised that we have so many younger children and our older ones are not keen on dressing up. I am sure it would be a non starter. I must admit that staff have sometimes been a tad stressed in the past - will it be OK, etc. It always does go well, with some funny things happening. Lots of parents and families come to watch and are really excited and pleased with the whole event. Be…
