This is my first post on here! How exciting! So, hi! I am Holly and I manage a brand new two year old setting based on a school site. We have had our first inspection and received a 'good' with some wonderful comments, so proud. But now I am ready to do MORE! I really want to revamp the outdoor provision and make it more prominent in our delivery of the EYFS. I am really looking for some tips from anyone who has accessed training, has any useful links for my own research into this, or some photos perhaps of what your outdoor environment looks like. I have a small part of a learning and development grant left and begrudge spending it on items that restrict play. I w…

Hello, I would love to know if any of you have any interesting imaginative ideas for Circle Time, as at the moment I feel it is a little mundane and I would like to feel that the children are having fun therefore more engaged.

developing mark making area

Hello all, Through discussion with the room leader and from my observations of the area, a need to develop the mark making area has been identified. How do i go about this? I printed off a room plan because i thought i might need to track the area for more details e.g what gender use the area, what age group, how long for etc, in order to develop an effective action plan. Does this sound right? I've never done this before so am unsure how to actually record what i observe on the room plan sheet. would appreciate any advice on this. Thank you

I am trying to introduce more natural resource activities...I was digging around in the shed at our preschool and found some shaped frames with strings, for weaving ribbons. I would love to try some natural weaving ( i did this some years ago at infants school with my girls) can I use privet? as far as i can tell Ivy is not usable ( just trawling the lists of harmful plants on google!) trying to think of some nice pliable shrubs that are safe for the children....I might have to leave it till later on in the year as I would like to add stems of rosemary and lavender and other herbs....any advice will be appreciated, many thanks.

Hi I just wondered what sort of activities you may do to support children to develop their thinking skills and express their thoughts? I have some 4 yr olds that just always copy what others say and i really want to encourage them to be independent thinkers. Thanks.

We are a pack away pre school in a church hall. Our inside space is huge which is great but the outside space does not match up. We have a concrete area and a small area of grass. We also don't have much storage space so even though I know what I'd love our outside area to look like I have to be realistic! I've got a bee in my bonnet about it though and I'd love some fab ideas if any of you could send some my way!?

As a school nursery we really promote our outdoor learning providing lots of different experiences for the children to take part in. There is an outdoor slot for each group where the children spend some time outside- weather adaptable. On home visits we make this clear to patents that we go outside whatever the weather and children need appropriate clothing (eg waterproofs). We do have some sets of waterproofs spare, but not many. Children also have a spare set of clothes hanging on their pegs incase they get wet. The other day we went outside as we usually do and the rain really came down- we took Shelter- but we did get wet!! When we came in children were changed into d…

Our cups seem to have disappeared over time and I need to replace them but I am having trouble finding them. We have cups with one handle which seem to work really well. Does anyone know where I can get them? I've googled it, but they seem to come up with ones with monkeys etc on, which is fine, but if I have 8 of those and 15 plain.... I can see the arguments now when I know how it is with pink plates!!!! I just want some plain ones.
