Hi all, I've had a wall taken down in my classroom this summer to make one big open space. It is soooo much better but I'm now having the headache of organising the space (and I do actually have a headache from thinking about it!) My biggest problem is that I only have 1 proper corner as others have doors, carpet area (due to whiteboard), and sink in them. I'm really struggling to create a separate role-play area to the home corner as I don't have a shelf unit for it - do others have a separate area or just incorporate the 2 together e.g. if they want a café, then the kitchen and table become the café etc for a period of time - so just extending the home-corner? I'm ju…

Hi all, Need just a little help if anyone can. I can't find my ECERS book at the moment, at the bottom of a mountain of other stuff in the dumping ground, I mean Office, I think. Can anyone tell me in the ECERS-R Profile under Program Structure, exactly what the meaning of "Schedule" is. Is it the day's planning?

Hi Just wondering what info you send out to parents about the half term ahead. We have used in the past a theme plan of the aspects we would cover. We plan very loosely in terms of a theme to give some structure but also go with children's interests. I often wonder how much parents actually read after I have spent ages writing. I would love to hear what you do. Thanks Skippy

I feel the urge to share these: http://www.alfiekohn.org/parenting/gj.htm http://www.naturalchild.org/robin_grille/rewards_praise.html We don't praise children and they are independent learners. We have a boy with us who couldn't do a thing without calling out 'Look at me' or adding 'Aren't I clever?' after having given a correct answer. He was no risk taker with ideas and avoided a cognitive challenge if there was a risk of failure. After two terms of praise detox, he plays independently and is open to learning beyond his capabilities. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about this topic. Is there anyone else of you who don't say 'Go…

Where did you get your copies from? I printed mine off put in poly pockets and then into a ring binder - but finding the binder a bit bulky in my already way too heavy bag and somehow it has come undone and I've had to put it back in order on more than one occasion!! So where did you get yours and would you have it from there again should you need to replace?

Hello everyone! Haven't posted on here before so please be gentle with me!! I am currently looking for audit tools other than the ECERS and ITERS to implement for my team in all learning areas in the setting. My S.I.P said the Kent Trust Web has examples but i've spent the last hour on there and cannot find anything! Does anyone have any ideas of places I can look or would anyone be kind enough to share what they do in their setting?! Waiting in anticipation!! Tinkerbell33 x
