Hi! I am currently trying to bring as many as the displays as I can down to eye-level for the children. My 3 main boards are quite high so I try to develop them with the children - not only using their work and photos of them but them actually physically helping me to put the pictures etc up and talking about the display as it develops. I had an idea about using the washing-lines - instead of using them to display children's work or number lines etc which are far too high for the children to look at, I was thinking about putting up 'tips and reminders for staff & parents!' e.g. ways of supporting communication and language development - general pointers & example…

Hi I am really keen to have a display shelf for the children to put their models on somewhere in the classroom. I'm trying to avoid having next to the construction area so they are not too tempting for other children to 'pinch!'. I'm really short of space especially wall space? Do you have a display area? Any space-saving ideas? Thanks Green Hippo x

Hi just out of interest how do you set up adult directed, child continued activities? I feel we support child initiated and aduld led in separate ways. However do not feel I have got to grips with the adult directed child continued to enhance independent learning. Skippy

I am having a bit of a disagreement with the manager about the following. Our baby room is very small (5 babies and 2 staff members). Because we dont have a seperate sleeping room we often rely on walks out in prams to get them off to sleep. We are very lucky in that we are based at the top of a lovely park which is within sight of nursery. My question is this.... Whilst both members of staff normally do a walk together - often around the village, sometimes only one adult can go - does this adult have to keep the walk to the park where they can be seen by nursery or can they go in the village unaccompanied?? Myself and the other deputy believe that they should stay…

Hopefully am posting in the right area! Okay, a perennial favourite! This year we seem to have quite a lot of children with allergies. In short we need to avoid dairy, egg and nut . As well as this, we apparently have to be wary of salt content (someone was told on a course? by an advisor? that breadsticks were not great because of their salt content!) We have fruit provided but I am just hoping to pick your brains and save myself some soul-destroying searching around supermarkets! Has anyone got any ideas of foods and/ or brands which we could include. Today we have had raisins and banana, tomorrow we have apple-flavoured rice cakes from a baby and toddler range; we ha…

We need to replace our current waterproofs ready for winter, and instead of having seperate trousers and jackets we are thinking about having the all in one suits. What are peoples experiences of these? Are Muddy puddles the best and really worth the money??? Where is the cheapest place that you have bought them? Would really appreciate some advice as it will be quite an investment and I would like to get it right. Thank you

Hi, just wondering whether you think I can put my painting aprons in the washing machine. They are a thin plastic type blue material, tabard style with a sewn white edging. I only got them last year so don't really want to have to use the budget to replace them!! I am not a domestic goddess.....what cycle should I use? Thanks Lucie
