Lunchtime Club
by Guest- 2 replies

I have had an idea for a lunchtime club at school but am finding it difficult to extend the idea. The club runs from 12.30 -1.00 p.m. - so just 30 minutes with a small group of KS2 children. I would like to run a 'mystery club'; each week I plan to read the group 'one of the world's greatest mysteries' e.g. the Mary Celeste, sightings of UFOs, the Lockness Monster etc. and afterwards to 'discuss' possibilities, truthfulness of report etc. But where else can I take it, other than just a point of discussion, albeit very interesting? Any ideas welcome!

Hi, Although I am a great believer in outdoor play and am usually the first out there in almost all weathers and can clearly identify the benefits from using the outdoor provision, I STILL feel like I'm struggling with the provision and resourcing side of it I find it quite difficult to decide on what to have out permanently/just for a week/fornight/half-term and often find that with both reception and Nursery using the resources they either get quickly used up (e.g. play-ground chalk), broken or in a mess. We do have designated areas for resources but do allow children to take resources to where they want to play (in most cases!) as we feel part of using the outdoor …

Write Dance

Hi, We have just purchased Write Dance-book and CD. I have had a very quick read of it but don't quite understand. There are songs/stories on the tape. Do you stand up and do physical movements to these and then repeat making pencil/crayon movements on paper? Do you have to follow it slavishily or can you dip around? I did the first story abpout a blank piece of paper and Yoyo and Meema. There are grids with drawings of graphics but I'm not clear if they are body movements or movements to make on paper. Is there a video you can watch? Has anyone put themselves on You Tube doing it?? Thanks

Outdoor Topic Bags
by Guest- 2 replies

Hi As part of an outdoor learing course I am putting together some outdoor topic bags. I have been given the task of making a Physical Development bag. It is not intended to cover lots, just one aspect but I'm struggling to focus on one really good idea. It's should be a really easy one to think of but I just can't focus down. It needs to be something simple that other schools would be able to replicate with their resources. I'd thought about a simple target game with bean bags, but am now not sure. Does anyone have any great ideas please?

Hi All, I am in the process of doing my research on EAL as part of my BA and at the moment attempting to think of questions to ask teachers and children as to what barriers they face etc. I would appreciate anyones thoughts on this. Research question:- Are children who have English as an additional language in primary schools disadvantaged when learning to read and write compared with children who have English as a first language? Thank you!
