Children's Personal Records
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi, Do any of you use an overall summery sheet to go in a child's personal records? I'm not talking about anything to do with Learning Journeys eg obs and development although it could be linked but something that you could record a summary of accidents or incidents, whether a child is seeing other professionals eg SALT or has SEN on entering. I am thinking of doing something, but would like to know what others think or if they use anything already. thanks Rachel

Our parents are very keen to get weekly photographs of the children. Have any of you set up a regular online sharing through something like Picassa? Are you happy that it is secure, and are your parents happy? Would love to know what other settings do.

I have had an email today from a parent who is concerned that another child whilst using scissors had tried to cut her daughters finger. Luckly another member of staff had been involved and had checked the child's hands where there were no marks and the child was not distressed by the incident. The parent is now questioning the level of supervision in the nursery and suggesting that we should not have scissors unless children are supervised. The children are aged 3 and 4 and have independent access to child scissors as part of our technology area how would you explain to this parent that children, although they are generally supervised are allowed to play and explor…

Hi everyone, (not sure if this is the right place but ...) I am wondering if you could help me with some ideas for a new interactive numeracy display in my nursery class (I have a display board, table and shelves). I was thinking that I could put number attached to velcro onto the wall for the children to order, I would like feely boxes attached to the wall where the children can feel for shapes or numbers. I thought it would be a nice to have rotating numeracy boxes based on nursery rhymes (for example - 10 fat sausages, have a frying pan and 10 sausages...) this could be the table top activity. Also I thought that I could put empty shoeboxes onto the display…

New Premises - Cost !

Hello everyone , we after many many years may have the opportunity to relocate to a school site. Its still very much in the early planning stages but we will need to be housed in a temporary Elliot/terrapin type building which we will need to rent/purchase as there is nothing on the site suitable at present. We have made some very tentative enquiries to companies who supply these types of buildings and have been shocked at i nitial prices which we doubt any setting could afford - do any of you lease or have bought a similar thing and would you be kind enough to indicate costings - as we feel its really not worth pursuing of its as high as we have found x Dizzzzz

Eyps Enhanced Funding
by Guest- 7 replies

I have heard today that I will no longer be able to access extra funding to support and pay for my lovely member of staff who has studied and qualified as an EYPS. I have to say although I knew this was on the cards it really sickens me to the core that in a time where early years education should be given priority decisions are being made to withdraw the financial support that has really enabled my pre-school, and probably many others, to raise it's game significantly. With the PSLA conference around the corner I feel the need to raise this concern and seek change in the allocation of funding. I can't help but feel that this is going to backfire somewhere…
