Inspiration For Calendars

I'm hoping one of you wonderful people out there may be able to offer me some inspiration. I have been given the opportunity to assist the children in F2 with their calendars this year. I would like to make these more child initiated and individual but my mind has drawn a total blank. Last year it was the ink you dust (cant remember the name!) to make patterns The year before was bubble prints with indian ink blown winter trees. I would be very grateful for any ideas! Thank you in advance Vicky

HI I have spent most of the evening trying to locate a source for buying fabric building blocks which have velcro so that they 'stick together' when a child builds. Does anyone know if there is such a thing on the market I am sure there must be but no luck so far!! I have a lovely set of 6 fabric blocks with each face made of a different texture and each block also makes a different sound when squashed/squeezed. I could buy velcro and attempt to adapt these blocks but would rather find the specific resource I need Any ideas? Whilst I am here any ideas for resources which cannot be nade from any form of 'hard' material would be gratefully received.

I've just been given this link to a You Tube video which is a wide ranging discussion about how we educate our children and young people. It is 11 minutes long but I found it fascinating! Wonder what you'll make of it? You can find it I particularly liked the ADHD map of the USA! Maz

Hi, I just wondered if you could tell me whether or not lunch boxes not stored in the fridge have to have an ice pack in them? We had a visit from the food safety officer who says they are okay without for up to 4 hours. Yet it says in our welcome pack that according to OFSTED guidelines they should have an ice pack. Does anyone know what guidance this is referring to? Many thanks for your help Suebear

Since being quite ill before Christmas and not being quite myself again until just recently, the last couple of role play areas in my classroom have been a bit of a let down. They've been ones that have been successful in the past but that I haven't been able to put the usual 110% effort into this time! Children have mostly gone into them and played mummies and daddies with the dolls - which is great, but I'd like to foster a bit more imaginative / complex play next time. Just wondered what your most successful role play areas inside have been? My teaching assistant suggested a baby clinic, but I'm not overly excited about this one either - I think I need something t…

Hi I went on a training course about mark making in the EYFS it was very good. However there were a lot of reception teachers there. The trainer had some great abc songs to sing with the children. Does anybody do abc songs with their children. The music was great and there were some exercise movements to go with it. I would like to know if we can do this with the children. Thanks Dorinda

After a very productive staff meeting today we have decided to put together a list of basic craft ideas for a member of staff who struggles when it is her week to plan craft. Im looking at putting them into catagoies such as paint - string, bubble, vegetable, sponge etc and wondered if anyone had anything similar they would be willing to share or perhaps point me in the right direction Thankyou
