Hi I ma having an open morning for parents with a physical development focus. I thought about having an EYFS display with photos showing how we promote all aspects of physical development. I just wondered if anyone had any other inspiring ideas. I thought about linking it with sports relief? and wanted to make it an inspiring morning. Skippy

Summer Trip In Nursery

Hi everyone, I am trying to plan a summer trip for Nursery children based around our topic of 'Holidays'. I have tried contacting a local airport but currently they have suspended educational visits. I've also thought about going to a local pier and a visit to a lifeboat centre but this is thought not to be suitable for them either! I am stumped for ideas now. Help!

Student Contracts
by Guest- 1 reply

Do you use student contracts for trainees and students? The reason I am asking is that as one of the areas I would like to develop for the management and leadership module at uni is the 'use' of students and trainees in the workplace, using a mentoring scheme where the students get a named person (me!) to support them. I need to make it look good though and intend to create a student handbook, risk assessment, induction procedure and thought the addition of contracts would be a good one to include. In addition, we have two students working with us at the moment and one hasn't turned up for the past 2 weeks. We've had no notification from her as to why. She is an NVQ stude…

Hi We have just started incubating some chicken eggs. When I say we I mean one of our grandparents will look after them in an incubator and hand them over to us about a week before they hatch - phew! Providing we actually have some eggs that develop we will follow our instructions to the letter when they are handed over. I've never done this before, do you have any tips, especially with regard to hygiene within the environment and hand washing with children. Once they hatch they will be within a cage and I need to think of a way to cordon them off to supervise contact and hand washing. We will only keep them for a week as I understand they can get a little …

I've got a picnic blanket to go in there and the usual food items from the home corner cupboards and thought maybe some torches but that's all i can come up with on a sunday evening so far! We have a number of parents that have started to leave their children waiting outside with another parent for 10 minutes or so before opening time. If that child needs the toilet would you let the parent that was looking after them take them to the toilet or not? The same query if another parent is collecting them at home time... would you let them take the other child to the toilet at home time? We have parent helpers each day but they know they are not allowed to take other people's children to the toilet but is this scenario any different?

In our Foundation class (mixed Nursery/ Reception) we are planning some work based on superheros/ spies and are trying to think of all those ways of doing 'secret' writing that you then have to do something else to, to be able to see the results (if you see what I mean) We are going to write with white wax crayons on white paper and then wash over with paint. Writing with a wax candle and then painting over. Writing with lemon juice and then gently heating. Any other ideas that makes writing appear/ disappear? We are also going to make binoculars and periscopes, have out magnifying glasses and clues for the children to follow to make discoveries. Ink pads …
