Wait List
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi I expect this has been asked before. But how do you arrange your waiting lists. Do you ask exsisting parents first if they want extra places, or the parents that have paid their deposit and are on the waiting list. I have been having a right problem with this. Also if a parent looks around and they say that they want a place in september even if they had not been on the waiting list do you say yes to them. I have a child who is starting school in September who has been with me since 3 months old. I have had concerns about her hearing for the last two years which I have raised with parents several times and given them a letter for the consultant. They have been told that her hearing is fine and that the audiologist felt that her not responding in the hearing test was down to being stubborn. Mum also thinks she might have a hearing problem but she has just asked me not to inform school about my concerns. She thinks that if the teacher comes to her with concerns it will be more convincing evidence for the consultant. The problem is that I would not be giving a complet…

Hi We have many children who run from one end of the setting to another. Back in the Autumn we changed the layout to put a bit of a 'S' into the layout in the hope of obstructing the runway. Whilst giving us many other benefits, it doesn't seem to have stopped the problem. We have the home corner and creative art area at one end and the quiet area with books and puzzles at the other, with mark making and maths in the middle. We are in the process of making the book area more obvious and calming with a canopy and fairy lights etc. No amount of explaining that children could bang their heads or bump into each other works, the next minute children are runni…

Hi, Just wondered if others put collage-type resources outdoors? We have the painting easel, paper, lots of different mark-making equipment, scissors, tape etc but we're wondering whether it would be worth putting the collage-type resources such as small sticky shapes, buttons, sequins etc as we thinking that they are just going to end up blowing everywhere and getting wasted? We also try to make our outdoors have a different opportunities to indoors - any ideas? Thanks Green hippo x

Hi I am currently in the process of developing our outdoor area and suggested to our head maybe the eco club would like to help and she was so keen she arranged for them to meet me at lunch tomorrow! Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do with them? I thought of maybe reusing milk cartons to plant flowers (as that is recycling) decorating CDs to hang in trees (again recycling) I am in the process of making a nature area and I do have some raised beds and maybe they could plant some bulbs? Please please PLEASE if you have any ideas plz share xx

I was really interested in Alison Harmer's article on the Home Page entitled 'Music, personal social and emotional development ....and you?' I attended a couple of day long courses last term which were great, entitled 'Bringing Stories to Life' and 'All singing all dancing' which both contained lots of useful practical advice and resources. Since attending the course, we have started using books and music to bring stories to life with 'drama' sessions. Last week we had an artic adventure, next week we will be using Jack and the beanstalk following on from a child's interest in the book. The hardest part I find is trying to think of suitable music. In Alison…
