Hi! I'm currently renewing our Continuous provision long term planners. Our previous ones did not list learning in the form of objectives but the type of learning that might occur. I want to change them to be more like learning outcomes so that we can clearly see the progression expected between Nursery and Reception. I'm basing these outcomes on the EY learning outcomes but not sure of this is the right way to go? What do others use? EY outcomes or something different? Thanks Green hippo xxx

Hi, I am looking at the recent EYFS moderation document on the Gov. website and updating/adapting the form I currently use. One point that I have always found that staff seem to struggle with is to show is the 'How are the children’s contributions represented?' I'm interested to find out how others evidence the children's contributions, particularity when using Tapestry? Any suggestions/example/ideas are gratefully received. Thank you

Hello! I'm going a bit crazy this week and making some changes to our provision which I have never done before. I'm removing our indoor water area as it's underused and the children have access to a large water play area outside. I've also decided to get rid of our deconstructed role-play in place of a mega mark making zone with vertical and horizontal surfaces covered in paper. Under table and using the watee tray to make marks in different material. Mark making is our area with the biggest gap. I love the deconstructed role-play, however, the children have access to a very well resources outdoor shed which is full of open ended resources and is very well used…

I'm hoping all you wonderful people will be able to help. What is the rule of thumb regarding staff wearing aprons while nappy changing? Our policy says we wear them but we have a member of staff who cannot fit a standard apron. Does anyone know where I can get extra large ones? Many thanks

You may have read some of the furore in the EY press over the weekend regarding Gill Jones' comments on singing in nursery. Gill, Ofsted’s deputy director of early education, told an NAHT conference that the demise of singing in nursery impacted on children's emerging reading skills, she said: “Children that can sing I’m sure read better, though I have no research to prove that whatsoever, but I’m just putting it out there because I’m sure it’s right.” [TES. 05/10/18] Her comments provoked quite a Twitter storm which Gill addressed online saying: "This storm is an unintended consequence of me highlighting the importance of singing with young children during questions…

Hi does anyone have any templates of their continuous planning sheet, adult focus etc. Any suggestions will be helpful. We used to do 'in the moment planning' but we are now thinking of going back to planned adult focus etc, so if anyone have any ideas that work well and easily documented I will be very appreciative. Thankyou

Hi, we are starting to gain a more diverse cohort and some of our less experienced practitioners are quite rightly questioning us on various aspects i.e. halal, family set up, how surnames and first names run on through families. We are pushed for getting together to discuss all of it as full meetings are already booked but wanting to offer website links or literature to those needing it and upskilling that way. Anybody got anything to start me off please
