Dear All, If you have got a couple of spare minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!! - if any of you haven't already sat down and read it - check out the Workforce Strategy launched April 2005 and you can also make comments as they are consulting to July 2005. This lengthy document tells you how they think they are going to achieve all our workforce problems - takes i think over 90 pages to do it but there are some interesting areas about making new gradings from 1 thru to 8. Like Rea I am a bit lacking in the uploading attachment area and my excuse of not being able to work it out is that it is probably too long and would send some of your computers crashing down round its ears and its…

Hi, We have used a star chart in our nursery room for the past few months (5 stars = a sticker and 10 stars =a certificate). The children don't seem that enthused by it anymore and was wondering whether anyone can suggest any tried and tested reward systems. Thanks for your time.

Hi All, I attended a conference yesterday in Colchester all about transition and was wondering if anyone else from the forum attended it, and if so what are your thoughts about it?. I enjoyed the day, felt a little lonely at times, as nearly everyone had come with someone, where as my setting only booked me a place on the conference, but apart from that i did enjoy it. There was a guest speaker, Liz Brooker, a university lecturer and researcher who i got the opportunity to have a one to one chat with. She researches early years and does interviews with pre school and reception aged children. I found it all very interesting. I was also very interested in the thoughts and …

War/weapon/super Hero Play 1 2

Hi there, I am doing my foudnation degree and am doing research into gun play. Is anyone willing to share what happens in there settings? For example: we allow children to construct guns and then direct there play to try to ensure that they are using them creatively. A recent success was one boy who turned me into water and then with a second devise turned me back into peoples. He then told me of his superpower and turned his "gun" into a broomstick as his power was Harry Potter. Does anyone else support this type of play? Do you have a zero tolerance approach? If so do you know why?
