Have got loads of bluebells growing in my garden and wanted to pick some to take into work tomorrow for our spring display but thought it best to see if they are poisonous. Have looked at several sites on the internet and bluebells are not mentioned there.

I am currently in my second year of teaching at a school which I really love however this school is around 45 mins away from my house. I am KS1/KS2 trained however I have been teaching in the Reception class of my school for the last 5 terms. My post is permanent and after 2 terms I was promoted (although no extra money involved) to FS coord. I have just seen 2 jobs advertised at the school which I went to as a child which is approx 1 min walk from my house however these jobs are both in Year 5. I have really enjoyed FS and am not sure I would enjoy year 5 as much however I can't help but feel that the FS teacher's job is all going to chage in a few years time (what w…

Hi doing a topic on food at the moment and during a recent search on the internet I found this great site where you make your own Arcimbold type picture using fruit and vegetables. I wrote down the web address, but for some reason that will now not take me there. West Sussex grid for learning created it and I was wondering whether it was here that I got the link. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Elfy

Hi Just a quick question, wondered if anybody knows the answer? We have had an outbreak of conjunctivitus, 6 cases in the last week. One of the parents wants us to wash every single toy in the pre-school as she says the toys are contagious. This will take a long time to wash everything. We have washed the playdough and home corner resources, but to clean everything!!!!! what do others do?

Hi I'm busy with paper work and keep popping in here for a change of scenery. I have come to the - Letter to parents about letter formation. I'm feeling very bogged down and the brain just won't work as fast as I want it to. The thought of having to compose even a short letter to include examples of letter formation is putting me off doing it. Has anyone got something I could use please? (sorry, I'm not usually this "lazy"). I'll go back to the "things to do" list and come back to this one later. Thanks Sue J

I have moved into Reception this year from Year 1. I began to get unhappy with the way i was teaching reading in Year 1 and thought I must really sort it out in Reception as teaching the children from the start has a huge degree of significance. I am not happy with the Reading Searchlights model promoted by the NLS. I know this is a government initiative and supposedly based on research but it seems unsatisfactory to me - what do others think? I find it hard that I should teach phonics in one respect but then not particularly use it in reading - I have to teach e.g. the word 'play' as a sight word before the 'ay' letters and sounds are taught. Also, the phoni…
