Is anyone else getting involved with this awareness week. I think it is on in November - about 20th? What could be suitable for Foundation Stage. Any ideas to include some fun! How can we involve parents in a positive. I'd love some feedback Thanks, Sunshine.

I'm just in the process of organising my first lot of inductions for nursery intake in January. In the last school I was in (on teaching practice) I was involved in home visits and can see many advantages and some disadvatages of them. I'm quite keen to give them a go in this time, but just wanted to get an idea of how people feel about them accross the country. Also if you do do them, how do you organise them? Elfy x

Montessori Settings

After my post regarding Theorists and the most interesting, I have decided to look at Maria Montessori as I have heard a lot about her work and also about her settings. I don't really know anything about Montessori settings so thought it would be an opportunity to learn about it and to pass this information on to others at college. I did consider Albert Bandura and his theory about positive role models, but the information I can find about him is somewhat limited. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody who has worked/is working in a montessori setting could give me some information as to the way in which Montessori methods work? I would like to include personal opinion/ex…

Hi all... I want to pick your brains if I may Got to do a display with our nursery for the main school entrance; the theme is maths through stories. We know lots of number rhymes but need a story set around maths (not the Hungry caterpillar as we have already done that). I would especially welcome ideas on shape, space or measures... Any ideas?

Role Play Boxes

Hi Been thinking about sorting out life area and set up boxes that can be brought out into life area either as part of a planned topic or just to add extra interest. As these things take awhile to come together was going to compile a list of useful things to beg, borrow or steal. What kind of thing do you put in your life area?

Hi I'm working as an NQT in a nursery that is part of a primary school. In the afternoon I'm on my own with 13 children, most of whom are barely 3 years old and started last week or yesterday. Tidy up time at the moment is a nightmare, which I know it to be expected, but I was wondering whether anyone had any wonderful ideas up their sleave for improving things. I tried to have a quick chat with them about it today, which they listened carefully to and then went away to play with the toys not tidy up. I'm not expecting miracles from them, but realise there is probably something more I could do to make things better... Elfy x
