Hi, I'm wanting to do an activity with my students around influential / interesting / current people in the early years sector (obviously we teach about well known; Piaget, Vygotksy, Montessori, Pestalozzi etc etc) but I wanted them to explore other people - those who influence policy, have created wonderful settings (everyone!! lol), engage practitioners in inspirational training etc. I wondered who you would encourage them to research...

Dear All, It is very sad to see that more pressure is being put on the shoulders of our youngest ones. Thanks to the initiative of someone in the EY sector, a petition has been put to stop this as soon as possible. For more information, if you have FaceBook, go and read the explanation here https://www.facebook.com/kymscottconsultancy/posts/2043595992626756. If you don't have FB or the time to read the article, you can go directly to this other link to sign the petition: "Halt the EYFS review until a panel with true EYs experts only is convened" https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/halt-the-eyfs-review-until-a-panel-with-true-eys-experts-only-is-convened …

Hi Has anyone accessed the new platform yet for Educare. I didn't notice any emails telling me that anything was changing and have now lost all my history. Has this happen to anyone else?

I'm pretty sure I've done right to ignore what I've heard tonight, but just checking. Miss Six and Mr Seven on the swings. Miss Six spends most of her time hanging upside down and swinging from the cross-bar. Mr Seven tells her she's a 'monkey'. 'Yeah you're a monkey, you're a real monkey'. Nothing wrong there no-one is offended, except,..., Miss Six is African mixed race. Mr Seven is white British. I'm feeling awkward. Do you think a quiet word tomorrow? They're oblivious to any difference, why point it out? Except...this same child, in a fit of pique some weeks back, muttered something about, 'the poo coloured people'? Certainly nothing he would have hea…

Here's a question ... For (donkey's) years we have collected, updated, audited, reviewed our COSHH data sheets to ensure that we have a sheet for pretty much everything a child might ingest by accident. When I recently renewed my first aid quailfication the paramedic who was running the course was utterly amazed that we still did this. She told me that the ambulance service have access to the full COSHH database and so if a child ingested something and we phoned an ambulance they would look it up anyway and wouldn't need the sheet we have (so carefully) prepared. I assume that means that hospitals do the same - so why am I doing this? I've checked the Statutory Frame…

Any one have this experience: although staff are on the DBS update service I have been told that after 3 years a certificate is out of date and as manager I need to reapply for new certificates. Does the update service not remain live and continue to reflect an individuals circumstances? It was my understanding that a new certificate would void the already (live) certificate connected to our unique ID number.

Morning! Could I ask what other preschools plan to do when the wet wipe ban comes in please? Particularly those settings where children are generally toilet trained (no nappies,) but still have accidents, upset tummys and muddy faces! Really interested to hear everyone's thoughts on how they're going to manage this. thanks

Hi, I am after advice. We have children who are pretending to sunbathe. Would you discourage this or allow them to do it as it is something that their parents do? Thanks Radish
