What Happens If I'm Ill?
by Guest MaryEMac- 10 replies

This is just a general query but I'm hoping someone will be able to put me right. I am the leader of our village playgroup and am the only member of staff with a level 3 qualification. My deputy has a level 2 and another member of staff is halfway through the level 2 course. A couple of weeks ago my grandchildren very kindly gave me a sickness bug and obviously I couldn't go to work. One of the mums came in as a parent helper but another parent said that surely the group couldn't run as I wasn't there. I didn't find out what had been said until this week when I had had another day off to have a minor operation. My deputy told me today because she hadn't wanted to worry …

Hi all - A large scale evaluation of the Primary and Secondary strategies urgently needs participants from the Foundation Stage, both practitioners and reception teachers. If you're able to assist, please could you make contact with them as detailed below. Many thanks!

Could You Answer This Question?!
by Guest- 13 replies

Please could any one help? I've got a meeting with the deputy head on Monday morning as part of a self evaluation form for OFSTED one of the questions is: How well do learners achieve in the Foundation Stage? How on earth do I go about answering this? All I keep thinking is well how do I know unless I can compare how well they achieve in relation to other schools (and as this is the only school I've taught in I haven't a clue ) I'm sure I have really....I suppose I should show the FSprofile results as compared to the rest of the LEA? Any other ideas?

Creativity

Hi Found a poem that I wanted to share. Don't think this kind of thing happens in foundation stage but let it be a warning to all. (think I was guilty of this kind of thing as an NQT with Year 2s, around making Christmas decorations etc). Early years has taught me so much! The_little_boy___creativity.rtf

One of the scenarios on my course is a case study " a 5 year old girl, who is on the Child Protection Register, is playing in the hospital corner of the classroom, she begins to act in a sexually promiscuous manner," I have to explain what action I would take working as a Teaching Assistant. I cannot find much in my notes on child protection register, anyone any ideas or suggestions. Thanks

Struggling

I am really sruggling this year with my year 1 class. Ii have not got a fulltime assistant and I am finding it impossible to give any kind of individual attention to chn who need it. I have a lot of chn this year who have very poor listening skills and who constantly use their loud voices and shout out. During whole class sessions i seem to be forever telling chn to sit properly, look at the speaker, listen etc. It is getting me down because i seem to have a lot of chn who have learning difficulties. I know it would be easier if i did whole class activities but i do not agree with that and like to provide a range of opportunities for the chn. I have tried a range of strat…

Training Day - Session Closure
by Guest- 13 replies

Evening all! Pre-school needing advice! Can any one give me some idea about how many "official training days " other Pre-schools have a year please. schools seem very comfortable with inset days but I have a "guilt issue!" I have been told by my EY that training days are a very good idea and that the funding allows closure of the Pre-school to take into account some training!!!!! How much though? My personal opinion is that 2 a year would be ok and that 3 a year would be fantastic to keep skills etc sharp for staff . Our parents might not feel the same way!!!! What are your thoughts please?
