Hi, wonder if there is someone out there who can help... I have heard of someone who has raised a small but significant sum of money but can not use the school account as the school is in debt and the bursar seems reluctant to pay it in. If she can recalim vat on her purchases the money will go considerably further but how can she do this without using the school account? If the bursar were to accept the money, can it be used or will it disappear to offset the debt? Please help!

Hi - Recently I saw a post on a forum asking if anyone had any ideas for Christmassy displays. Unfortunately we didn't see it till after Christmas , but I thought I'd post some pictures of our Christmas displays anyway. They could be useful for next Christmas - and they give me a chance to try putting pictures up. Let's see how we get on...

I'm getting ready to do the planning for next week and realised that its raining (again) what kind of things do you do if its raining? I'd like to know how and what you set up for the rainy outdoors. What do you take out with you? What kind of activiites do you do? Do you insist that chidlren go out even in the rain? Some like to and some don't. What about staff -can they be made to go outdoors in the rain? Human rights and all that!! Please can i have suggestions .

Can anyone help. After a course last summer I was inspired by Write Dance and my head bought the scheme. Now I have come to actuually do it I'm having second thoughts. I agree witht the basic idea but find the detail in the manual a little overwelming in theory. What I find most difficult is the beginning dance sessions with children. The volcano was fine- I'd seen and done that and knew ideas for the dance but the other dances don't have much detail (or am I missing something?) about how to move about proir to the paper stage. Can anyone tell me the sorts of moves / prompts / instructions they give to the children for any of the other Write Dance dances?? Thank…

Help I am sure I heard somewhere that NQTs could not take children out of school unless accompanied by another qualified member of staff. Have I just dreamed this or is it the case. Hope someone can set me straight L

I'm curious how colleagues are linking the fundamentals of the Primary Strategies with their practice across the foundation stage. The guidance from the strategies is to develop the elements of the "hours" across the day, but essentially having e.g. in Literacy:Daily shared reading / writing, with guided groups in reading /writing and also phonics work(word level stuff). The same applies with the NNS guidance So: What are you doing? How are you timetabling for this? How are you recording progress in guided groups? Do you split up the elements or go for the whole session? How are you planning for strategies? Additional session plans or within your weekly plans? H…

Any Suggestions Please?

All suggestions gratefully received on this one! On our recent Ofsted under CLL quote " they use their 'own' writing in role play and write their names. This is not extended for older and more able children" So.... the consideration should be to "consider providing more opportunities for structured writing for more able and older children" Any ideas where I should go from here ? There are always lots of mark making activities, there are laminated name cards for them to trace over, Inspector saw them writing letters in the sand, there are chalk boards (inside and out), there are playdough letters etc etc...... but structured writing ??? - how would others ap…

I don't want to appear really stupid (no comments Sue R ) but I've been writing a new 'achievement record' document for my playgroup and wondered if there was a difference between sorting and grouping in mathematical terms? I'm in Scotland and our curriculum is slighty different. The curriculum point is 'Understand and use mathematical processes such as matching, sorting, grouping, counting and measuring' This seems to indicate that there is a difference. Help someone?? I don't want to miss out something important.

Bilingual Workers

I have a bilingual worker attached to my Early Years team. She is not a qualified child care worker but does help alongside the others. I want to develop her role into something more than just being around for interpretation. Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone suggest articles or books which might be useful to me?
