Hi all, I have been a member of the forum for a long time and previously taught in our school nursery/EYFS unit for 7 years. Since then I have had 7 years out of Foundation Stage with two lots of maternity leave and working as school SENCo and teaching in key stage 1. I now know that from September I will be back in Foundation Stage..... I am very excited, but also aware that lots will have changed and I am a bit ‘out of date’. So I am here to ‘ask the experts’ ..... where should I start with getting ‘back up to speed’? Thanks in advance....

Hi, I hope you can help. As we are not in school, I don't have access to all previous yearly assessments. I need them urgently as I need to prepare a report on the data we have so far. I o l9t had them in paper form! Is there a way that previous years are still saved on the Tapestry system, even though I deleted the children as they went on to key stage 1. Really hope somebody can help me! Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone I'm after a little bit of help please! We had an advisor in to school yesterday for a mock deep dive in Science. As EYFS lead I was very happy with the provision the EYFS teachers had on show, they had been asked to showcase Science and had a lot of activities available and children had access to resources that could give rise to discussions and child led investigation in science based topics. Lots of water, materials, magnets etc with a focused adult led activity too. Although I would prefer a more general approach through continuous provision I was proud of children’s responses and felt boxes were ticked for what had been asked for. However…

Hello, I am writing with a request for advice. I have recently taken over the EYFS lead role in a special school and want to make sure we are fully compliant with all the regulations around mobile phone usage. I've looked at Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together To Safeguard Children, and while I can see that schools have to have a policy around phones, I can't see much in the way of specifics. I had it in my head that there were specific rules in the wake of the Vanessa George case, but maybe I got that wrong... The current school practice in my school is that phones are not allowed in the parts of the school where children are, during the ho…

Has any amazing person been organised enough to map out common play behaviours for the different areas of continuous provision? I’m looking at moving to a play based year 1 and want to make sure that I am challenging the children. Any help much appreciated 😁

Hi all, We are looking into using an online system for booking our parents evening appointments this year. I wondered if anybody else had done this and if so what software you would recommend? I've been looking into parents evening system but linking children, classes and teachers has become thoroughly complicated!! Any input would be great. Thanks

I was wondering what this looks like in peoples' Reception classrooms? Do people still use the literacy strategy style 6 using the same book? Or have things moved on? Is there any advise/reading I could consult? Many thanks

No I haven't gone over to the dark side This info is not for me! So what advice would you give a teacher who is new to foundation stage? (she's taught in the same school and has previously taught year 1/5 and 6) but has never been in reception and is feeling somewhat anxious !

I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of guidance on school cleaning standards? I have a problem over cleaning in Reception and specifically the cleaning up of bodily fluids!! I've spent hours Googling 'cleaning up vomit in schools' expecting there to be some guidance but have found nothing! Our caretaker's idea of what's acceptable and mine are poles apart!
