i am writing an assignment and am referring to Elfers idea of the Key Person, however i'd like to mention that in my setting this is not followed (and needs to change) and the practice of Key Worker groups is used. I can't find any theorist that talk about the Key Worker Group approach and hoped someone here may be able to enlighten me?

I've just found out that I have an exam in Leadership and Management to look forward to The subject doesn't bother me but after last years exams in Safeguarding and Inclusion we were told no more exams - I distinctly remember being told "no exams" when I started my FD, too. Is this something unique to my course (Integrated Children's and Young People's Services) or my University (Wolverhampton). I'd like to know before I decide where to top-up!! Nona

Hi I have applied through UCAS for my Foundation Degree in Early Years & Education, however my application was 4 weeks late (didn't realise I had to apply through UCAS). Anyway I haven't heard anything yet and according to UCAS it could be July before I hear anything!! Another local college is also offering a Foundation Degree in Early Years and Playwork, not sure whether to also apply for this one to hedge my bets. Problem is I cant find much info on the 2nd Degree and just wondered if anyone on here has or is doing it? I own my own Pre-School and I'm not involved at all in breakfast or after school clubs and I'm wondering if the 2nd one is more aimed at OSC's rat…

Is anyone doing the K312. Feeling lonely at the moment. Find it difficult than the others. It is a level three course, but there are no detailed assessment guidelines and the tutor's notes doesnot even address the question.

Research Project

Hi Everyone, Like many others I have reached the stage of my Foundation degree that requires me to carry out a research project. As I work in a parent committee managed setting, I have chosen 'Are parent management committees effective in encouraging parental involvement ? ' as my research question. I plan to send out questionnaires to the parents at my own setting as well as staff, I am hoping to prepare 5 open ended questions, but at the moment I am drawing a blank knowing where to start, so I would really appreciate any ideas. Thanks in anticipation

Grrrrr! Am getting lost for a focus for my final assignment/research project! Having recently undertaken the full ECERS audit I want to use this as a basis for my research but am confusing myself trying to decide which aspect of it to focus on that will lend itself nicely! The original audit, carried out in full alongside my lovely EYDW, was very positive in terms of environment and most other aspects. The two recurring themes that pulled down the overall score were lack of 'sustained shared thinking' or adults extending the childrens learning through their interactions and diversity/inclusion with reference to materials within the setting. I'm thinking I can…
