Hi all, I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me with a rather silly question!! I'm after a word or phrase which relates to play with 'real' objects not items manufactured particularly as toys. I hope that makes sense and I'm sure there is a special word but I just can't think of it  I'm studying a DVD extract of some children using some medical equipment such as plastic syringes, kidney bowls, plasters, sterile dressings but they are all proper 'BOOTS THE CHEMIST' (other pharmacies are available ) not Toys R Us toys... Hope this makes sense!! Thank you!!

I am so fed up with this course - supposed to be handing in 2803 and 2804 in on Monday and haven't done either. I have been sat at my computer since 8am and typed a whole 196 words - most of that is the titles!! - The other essays I have managed to muddle through using the notes from lectures and text books but 2803 in particular has me totally stumped - I am completely clueless as to what I should be writing. I may as well have written my notes in Russian for all the sense they make. I have seriously contemplated giving up and stopping the course but I can't afford to pay back the money - not much of an incentive to keep going!! Some ideas on what I should be…

Ok, here goes ! As many of you know I have been struggling with my foundation degree, I was going to jack it all in this week, as I just can't get my self motivated to do my assignments which have to be in next week ! Yesterday I spoke to my mentor(for two hours) who has known me for many, many years and she has managed to talk some sense into me ! Well I think she has ! Now I'm going to have to be super woman to be able to hand in my assignments, as I don't type very well and I am struggling with writing in an academic style, it maybe be a tall order. I did have a half hearted attempt last week, but not really much progress made as I have not written an…

I've been writing an essay and just gone to sort out the Harvard references (nightmare starts). I have one quote which is; playing games “can encourage successful learning and increase self esteem” (Briggs and Davis, pg 99). I can't remember where I got this from. I've checked all my books and downloaded documents, looked on Amazon and Google and poured through my tutorial notes - nothing. Does anyone recognise the names? Or, failing that, does anyone have another quote I can use which says the same thing? I'm getting very pushed for time and beginning to panic a bit

Just wondered if I was the only one getting a little bit anxious about results?? What a time to publish them - 18th December!! Am keeping fingers crossed that they will come out early so I can enjoy Christmas (hopefully!!) and knuckle down to my E100 TMA, which I can't concentrate on because I WANT MY RESULTS... Good luck to everyone waiting for results - whatever they have been studying

Hi ! I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on typing up some observations on the computer, I have for an assignment. Normally I just write them when at work, but never have had to process them on the computer. I don't think the observation form I've got will be big enough to type in all the information and unfortunately I'm not good at typing or ICT so can't produce my own. I did read on another thread about someone numbering the lines in their observations, how do you do this and in what format ? I also need to do a target child observation and we do not do this kind of observation in my setting so have no sheets, could someone be kind enough to pos…

Behaviour Management Assignment!
by Guest- 2 replies

Hello everyone! I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas! I am on the forum tonight looking for some advice. I am currently doing a foundation degree assignment on behaviour management. Fortunately I don't work with any children with a real challenging behaviour.I'm a children's worker whose main role includes working in our Creches or running 'Stay and Play' sessions. I am trying to to do my assignment on positive reinforcement and rolemodelling, and how we manage children's challenging behaviour through the ethos of these groups/sessions. The problem I am having is finding arguements for and against these methods by theorist or in current research! Although I have …
