I have been talking to my manager about doing the foundation degree through the OU. I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice on what it is like - about the modules etc and what the degree consists of - How long does it take is it 3 years like other degrees? How many modules are there? Compulosory and optional ones? Also can I get funded through my local area for it? I am from oxfordshire. All comments appreciated

Hello all. I am currently writing my research proposal........... The last assignment to do before the end of the foundation degree (except for the profile and stuff connected to that!!) I am going to do it about parent partnership and exactly what that means. I am also going to look (using questionnaires) at what our staff and parents feel parent partnership is, or should be, about. I basically know theres tons of writing pushing towards parent partnership but do staff and parents feel it is this important? I thought maybe I would end up seeing that staff from early years and parents with young children would feel differently to say key stage one st…

Hi I have 4 weeks to get my first 2 assignments in for my foundation degree and have a cheeky favour to ask!! I have always worked better when I have seen an example of what is expected of me, I dont mean to copy or anything just at what level I should be writing at!! So I was wondering if anyone would be happy to let me have a look at a 1st year assignment that they have done just so I can see where I need to be heading with my academic writing!! As I mentioned it's not to use in my own essays just to see how to write!! Hope this makes sense and that someone maybe willing to let me have a peek (even a paragraph!!). Kris

Risk Taking And Cultural Tools

Hi All I was wondering if anyone might have some thoughts on two topics within the early years. Risk Taking and Cultural Tools. These are two different essays that I am preparing at the moment. With Risk Taking I have mind mapped and researched issues surrounding the environment - safe and stimulating, the EYFS and the review, Play England, how risk is perceived and acted upon by adults/parents (over protected etc.) and practitioners. Not sure what else might be worth considering or whether this will be enough (only 1,500 words) Same goes for Cultural Tools where I am relating it to Vygotsky and how they are central to our society now. So have looked at psycholo…

In October I sent in E230 which is a 30 point course to finish my degree in early years. To cut a long story straight it did not arrive on time and they have failed me saying I need to retake the course. All I would be doing is paying £400 resubmitting my essays which all passed and them sending my ECA which should pass going by the results from my other essays. I am so cross this happened OU just seem to want money for nothing. I am in two minds whether to appeal again or just leave it. I wanted to do EYPS next years but cant now. My question is does anyone know if there are any other options to complete my degree than with OU. many thanks Angel…

Dear all, I feel a bit stuck and hope for some inspiration. As part of my current module, I am to carry out an investigation into my practice in relation to working with parents. My problem is, I am about to move settings, so will need to do this without the parents actually knowing me. Because of this I decided to focus on how I can help children during transitions. But I'm not sure what questions I could ask that relate to me (rather than my setting's policy). Does this make sense? P
