Hi all, Hope this is the right place and that you can help... I am looking to return to some form of work after my maternity leave finishes in September and am interested in becoming an assessor. I have started to look into what it entails, but would love to hear from anyone who has recently undergone training to give me a bit more of an insight - pros and cons welcome!! RB x

im studying BA(hons) Pri Ed and am now thinking about my dissertation... as im an EY specialist i can do anything really, but my interest lies in how structured should the reception classroom be. ive seen both ends of the scale through my training but havent really had the chance to explore what impact it has on the childs dev. it still is very broad and i need to narrow it down alot. i am thinking of focusing on social development, playing with same children w/o T.I, or maybe i could go down a completely diff route and focus on transitions. my mind is boggled!! does anyone feel this is a worthwhile route to go down or can anyone give me any other ideas around…

Hi Just thought I'd pass on my experience of a Fd over the last 2 years. I started the Fd in Management of a Childcare Provision almost 2 years ago. It is run by Liverpool Hope University and is done all on line. I can honestly say that this has been a brilliant course, the content and the tutors have been great, I have learned soooooo much and am looking forward to graduating in July, and then moving on to top it up to a BA (Hons) in Nursery Management, also through Hope. Learners are split into groups and all work is either done individually or in a group effort. We have done reports, power point presentations, audio conferencing etc. Of course alot of research is …

I have had a look around the site and done numerous searches. Does anyone know where to find an example of a self development plan in a simple format? I have pdp's from college but I think they are a bit too detailed for staff at work. The staff have been asked to write a personal development plan to help inform training. Does anyone have nay ideas please.

by Guest- 4 replies

Hi I completed my DPP last year and I'm now working part time in a sessional pre-school. I really enjoyed studying after so many years and I decided to look into doing a foundation degree in September. I have spoken to the course tutor at my local college today and she has told me that as I already have a BA degree from years ago, I should apply for the EYPS but she didn't have much info about it. I thought the EYPS was only for those who had years of experience working with children. I have nearly 2 years pre-school including my volunteering and a further 3 years as a volunteer at a local primary school. I am also interested in how much study time you have to put into …

I am considering beginning my studying again.Currently I am a senior practitioner in an extended school which in practice means (with my colleague who i job share with)i manage all the services we offer. I gained the Advanced Diploma a few years ago and at the time I considered going on to study for my foundation degree. However the timing wasn't right and i put it off! With the introduction of the EYP status i am feeling that eventually, to continue in my present role or even to move on to any new challenges i need to pick up my studies again. My local college are running the foundation degree just wondering if that is the best course of action or should I look at a…
