Hi, Two of our staff members need to go on a Level 2 Safeguarding course but all the courses in our area are full. Does anyone know whether it is possible to do this on-line through anyone? Thanks for any replies.

Hello all I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend - indeed I hope that enough of you are near your PC's and not off galavanting somewhere in order to help me with my question  I currently manage a nursery class which is part of a infants school. I have been in this role for 6 years and feel that it is time to change the way we organise not only staff (of which there are 4 for 52 PT children) but how we support and deliver learning experiences. I feel that we are not getting to the heart of what the children want to do- lots of factors including how we arrange staff in areas whilst still enabling them to get a handle on where there own children are, how…

Hi there, I'm interviewing applicants for new staff in two weeks time. As always, I would like a staff member to fit in with the team and to want to stay with us as part of the furniture, however, I am very aware that we have a high level of people who are desperate for a job and anything will do, or who wish to get a job with more hours, but feel that we will suffice. Many Uni students have applied all stating that they really want a career in early years (their choice of study area does not reflect this), so I have had to be firm already. I was just wondering whether anyone has a question that provokes thought and could gain an interesting response from …

Paying Level 2's And 3's

Hi there, As mentioned in my previous post we are currently recruiting. We have stipulated on the advert that the post is for a level 2 member of staff. A couple of applicants that we are interested in hold a level 3 qualification however, as we are such a small team, we can't afford to pay them the level 3 amount. The sucessful applicant will not hold the same responsibilities as our other level 3 member of staff. Does anyone know what we are legally obliged to pay? Thankyou, Spiral :-)

My copy of the EYE magazine arrived today and inside was information about a training day for the EYFS Reform in central London on the 18th May. This is being run by Hodder Education and will include speakers such as Panny Tassoni and Vicky Hutchin, it is covering how to implement the key changes. The cost is £345 per person , has anyone been on this typr of training day before and are they worth it? Essex Early Yeras have arranged 2 seperate training days so far and due to demand I didn't get a place, they are saying they are trying to arrange further days in the summer!! So am now thinking I need to be pro active on the training front and although this day does seem…

Hi, I've got an interview for a Childcare (NVQ3) Lecturer post. As part of the interview I need to plan an hour’s lesson and deliver a 15 minute micro teach on the topic of "Promoting risk and challenge in children’s play”. Any ideas, hints or tips would be very welcome. Many thanks

I have just had an email from the CWDC about a new course 'early years leaders'. I read all the blurb about the two year course for graduates which results in EYP status and an MA in Early years. Then I saw a link to a 6 minute video which I watched. It all looked good and included a little bit from Sarah Teather saying how good this course was, how it's just what the GOvernment needs etc etc so far so good until I clicked on the 'apply' button for further information. Bearing in mind they are looking for quality applicants I wondered if my 2.1 degree in Early Years would be enough. SIlly silly silly me!!!! Yes they want graduates with a first class or 2.1 degree …
