Hi Peeps I have just taken on the role of SENCO to cover MAT leave. I have had experience as I was a liitle boys Key Person who had celebral palsy. I had to fill in IEPs and document evidence etc. I loved it. Now I am taking on the main role of SENCO and would like to do training so I can meet the requirments of my new role. I know that local councils do half or full day courses but they dont seem to be much (thats what i have heard from other collegue) Does anyone know where I can find training in this field whether its online or at college. I am in the Cheshire Area Thanks

Hi all, I am to deliver some phonics training to new staff members after the half term. We use the Jolly Phonics scheme and Letters and Sounds. I was going to run through these documents and show them how to use them with the children. However I wondered if there is anything else any of you fanatastic people have as ideas to share with these new Early Years practitioners linked to phonics they need to know. Thank you all

Topping Up An Old Qualification
by Guest- 2 replies

A colleague has the old Preschool Playgroups Association Foundation course parts A and B which used to be all that was required for a leader ie considered level 3 equivalent. (approx 1988) However it does not exist on the CWDC website so is clearly not now considered full and relevant. We are trying to find out whether it is possible to top it up, credit the prior learning or whether she effectivly has to start again. I'm sure there will be someone here who knows.

How I 'landed' in my role as a Playroup Leader, I'm not quite sure but I have and have been Leader for 2 years. I started my 'childcare career' as a mum, then general committee, then Officer, then paid assistant after completing my NVQ3 and now Leader - this choice of career is far from what I did life before children! Mostly I love it BUT I really struggle with managing the staff - I have a team of 7 with 5 totally behind me, helpful etc 1 is behind me depending on which way the wind is blowing that day, and the other......well - try as I might I never ever do right by this person (according to her) I feel I need some sort of 'personnel' training has anyone d…

Communicating With Parents
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi I want to do some communicating with parents training with my staff. The kind of thing I am hoping to cover are things such as handing over at the end of the day; what to say, what not to say (!), attitude, etc and also what to write when completing the diaries; how much and in how much detail etc. Have any of you lovely people out there held or attended similar training? If so can I please pick your brains for ideas, suggestions etc I know the idea of role play springs to mind, but if possible I would like to stay clear of that, but only if possible!! Thanking you in anticipation

I wondered if anyone is feeling generous and could help me begin my essay plan on the eyfs? I have started a BA after completing a foundation degree and I am feeling quite overwhelmed and doubting the clarity of my own thoughts if that makes sense! I have to look at the key issues in making successful implementation of eyfs. Any thoughts anyone?
