Currently I am working as a teaching instructor in a KS1 class. I have been an instructor for 5 years, 4 of those years spent in FS/EYFS. Over those years I have resat my maths GCSE 4 times so that I can further my career by applying for a PGCE. So far I have a BTEC ND in nursery nursing, a BA(hons) in Fine Art, and 7 GCSES at A-C, including english and science. The first year I applied for a GTP where I got to interview stage but I messed up the maths skills test (maths is forever my biggest demon ) so I didn't get in, they did ask to keep my details on record for another time but I kind of ignored this as I was so annoyed at being made to feel like a muppet at the…

Foundation Degree

Hi Looking for some ideas as feeling very demotivated. I have completed my foundation degree last year and I struggled to find suitable employment with my specific qualification. Now I am not sure what path to follow. I am currently working in a school nursery which I enjoy very much working one to one as an SEN teaching assistant level 1 which is not what I had set out to do orginally. I feel it is very unfair for schools to have one rule and pre-schools to have another when it comes to recuitment. In the school where my four children goes to school they employ parents as teaching assistants, they no qualificatons at all and have no experience working with ch…

Basic Pre-school Books

I've just started teaching 'Getting Started in a pre-school setting'-the level one course. One of my keener students has asked for some reading suggestions. I'm more used to teaching at level 3 and don't want to suggest anything too compicated or specialist. Does anyone have any recommendations of basic books about pre-school for beginners?

Hi everyone I've just been looking on the Pen Green family and research centre website at the courses they provide. There are some really interesting ones but they are REALLY expensive - £285 for one day 9.30 - 4 and £375 for two days . I wondered if anyone had done any courses at Pen Green and if so, what they were like and if they felt the cost was justified. Thanks Beehive

Due to only meeting once a week at uni, and due to circumstances such as missing weeks, family commitments etc. I thought this would be an effective way of communicating with one another, sharing ideas, information etc. and ensuring that we are communicating and working well as a team. For all visitors, please feel more than welcome! to contribute ideas. We are undertaking an early years degree, and as part of that, have to produce a health promotion pack.

Hi This is my first post and second time writing this very same message! I am not really sure if it is going to work but I hope it does! I am currently in my final year on the BA Primary Education degree with QTS. I decided to subscribe to the forum after finding some of the topics really useful to get me started on my dissertation. I have been a member for a few weeks now but this is the first time I have plucked up the courage to actually start a topic. I am currently writing my dissertation and am doing a small research project looking at the transition of children from Foundation 2 to Year 1. So far I have completed a small survey with a year 1 class to f…
