I think that anybody who has attended and conferences, exhibitions or area training days over the last few years will be very familiar with the work of Elizabeth Jarman. The Communication Friendly Spaces approach which she pioneered has helped many of us to look again at our provision taking into consideration the needs of the children in our care. The 'What is it like to be a child here' is a familiar question for all of us and a question that, when answered well, can be the difference between a 'positive' early years experience and an 'amazing' early years experience. One of the (many) benefits of our new FSF website is that we have been able to find articles written for us some years ago more easily When I was writing a recent review of a book about Susan Isaacs I linked to an excellent article written in 2010, Educational Pioneers: Susan Isaacs, 1885-1948 There are some wonderful articles covering many aspects of teaching and learning on The Foundation Stage Forum website - here are just a selection of articles that might increase your knowledge, help you research for an essay or help you reflect on your practise!
