I would like to gain your views on what you as practitioners, teachers, trainees, students or even parents would expect from a book whose aim is to support you in teaching art/creativity to children in these year groups? Any thoughts, commen…

Do read Kathy Brodie's article about how to identify next steps for your children. She's very clear- it's not all about ticking those statements

Chief Inspector Michael Wilshaw has this week written to all early years inspectors, giving instructions on the focus of future inspections. He criticises current inspection reports, saying, 'Too many reports focus on describing the provision in early years settings rather than on how well children are learning and making progress. In other words, inspectors should focus on evaluating whether children are being adequately prepared for the start of their statutory schooling.' I can't remember where I found it on here or who wrote it but I would just like to say how much I appreciated the article on Peer observation and joint observation for Ofsted inspections. It is full of ideas of how to set a focus for doing obs. around areas such as interactions, parental involvement etc. Well worth a read for anyone expecting Ofsted in the near future to ensure confidence when asked to do this.
