In this podcast episode we chatted with teacher and literacy lead Kiran Satti about a whole school approach to reading for pleasure, the importance of educators reading aloud to children, social reading environments, and the role of fluency. To find out more about the work Kiran and her team are doing, check out this booklet. One of the things Kiran talks about is the importance of educators reading aloud to children every day. Is this something that you do in your school? How do/could you incorporate it into your learning day?

We are delighted to announce that our new, unique Key Stage 1 and 2 assessment and monitoring system is now live on Tapestry! The system will allow users to easily record and track children’s progress from years 1-6, creating a seamless learning journal and progress monitoring service from EYFS to the end of KS2 at no additional cost (other than the increase in child numbers). Quickly assess individual children, groups within classes or whole classes, using our tier arrangement, customisable to fit your existing school set up. Assessments can be added via observations or directly into the formative assessment screen. There is more information and some screenshots for you…

How are you finding assessing and monitoring children's progress when there are no levels? FSF has been working with a number of schools to develop an assessment and monitoring package as part of our Tapestry product. We have collected information from all over the country and we have developed a system that will make your life so much easier and will allow you the freedom to benchmark against your school's expectation and also against national expectations . If you are interested in finding out more then you can ask questions on this thread!
